Do you baby your bags?

Interesting discussion. I don't baby my bags, but I try to be careful. If I get a scratch here and there...it hurts, but hey...it happens. Here's where I am:

Twillies and charms: I use them because I like the look, not for purposes of protecting the handles

Inserts: This I do use to protect the inside of my bags. When I got my first Chanel, I saw a pic of a jumbo with scratches all over the inside and it did not look appealing to me. I immediately got a pouch for my keys to avoid that.

Raincovers: I should carry these with me. I don't but I think I will start. I have gotten caught in the rain with my bags, and guess what? They all have been just fine :)

Plastic on HW: comes off as soon as I remember to. I love the look of the shiny HW and the plastic prevents that

Bag on the floor: never! Not because of protecting it, but because I'm superstitious and where I'm from there's a saying that putting your bag on the floor makes you loose money (I know I sound insane lol)

To each their own...you gotta do what works for you.

I baby mines! Twilly add colors to the handles and protect hand sanitizer/lotion leave residual; bag liners add structure and protect interior from makeup spill, etc...! Rainy days only use leather that can be easily wipe off and dry. And I always kept them in a dust bag when I am not using, also stuff little pillows inside to keep their structures.

I know the Asian belief about not putting the bag on the floor. Not just H bag, any bag. I live in the US and not as many people know about that here. But actually, it is safer not to put it on the floor.

IMHO, the term "baby" has (possibly still is) being used judgmentally. And by judgmentally, I mean with negative connotations. Personally, I don't care how anyone else uses/cares for their bags. Nor do I feel obliged to justify or defend how I handle mine. My friends know from observation and that is enough for me. So everyone -- do what makes you happy. They're YOUR bags.

I don't object to the word "baby" as it does have various meanings, perhaps "pamper" is a better term, but nonetheless which ever word
is more to one's liking, I pamper my bags & my wardrobe in general.
I don't like having scuffs or worn down heels on my shoes & I repair my shoes as necessary & I care for my clothes as well.
I have shoe stuffers for my shoes & keep lavender wands ( that I buy in Paris) in all my closets as well.
They have proper hangers & are cleaned as necessary. I treasure my possessions & like to care for them in a responsible & respectful
manner while still enjoying them.
And how we care & wear are possessions are in the eyes of the beholder, so enjoy your bags, etc....

Ha! I didn't know that was an Asian thing too. I'm Hispanic and we have the same belief. Anything to keep my money so I can turn around and give it to H right?

Most of these steps/habits seem like good reasonable maintenance, dear. :)

So funny, I was told this by my Hispanic friend when I was 12 and it has stuck with me so I won't put any bag on the floor also. My husband even knows not to put my bags on the floor [emoji23]

How cool! I didn't know this was also a Hispanic custom. Sounds the same idea as the asian one. We always learn new things here, huh? :)

Indeed! One of the things I love about this forum [emoji4]

So here's the saying "A Purse on the Floor is Money out the Door"
I will say that I will place my bag on my rug when taking a pic for Instagram so, I'm not sure where the line is drawn on putting it on the floor do you know?
