Just thinking out loud...from my experience and otherwise...I have seen ( or so I think!) a pattern emerge the way people move from one brand to another. Reading insightful comments of fellow TPFers on LV, Chanel and Hermes forums has left me wondering do people first shop at LV, then venture into chanel and finally stop at Hermes? So is it true that the order of climb/preference is the following: other high end brands like Gucci, YSL, Prada etc., then only LV, then LV and Chanel, then only Chanel, then Chanel and Hermes and lastly only Hermes?

Would love to see everyone weigh in...

Yep....pretty much.... Lol. That was exactly my pattern. I still love LV and Chanel, but I am in love with H. The quality is just unparalleled.

Yup tho I don't have the funds for an Hermes bag yet. Lol. Even if I did I would still dabble in brands where I like certain styles. Don't think I'd ever just exclusively stick to a brand cause each brand always has cute styles imo.

Interesting... I started with one LV. Went to Chanel next and bought 5. Then I bought 2 Gucci's and 2 Diors. Now I'm back to LV again. I think Hermes is lovely but not for me. I just buy what I love and what appeals to me at the time. Right now I really love LV.

Yes this was exactly my pattern. I think it has something to do with the increasing price points, and also the evolution of your personal style, from wanting to show people that you can afford designer bags to not wanting any logos at all

LV was first for me, then I ventured to Chanel and found it was not for me, so back to LV -- now it is only LV for me - don't even own other bags -- Hermes is not for me either -- I love LV leather these days.

I skipped LV. Never have had a bag that I was needing/wanting.

I dipped my toe in the pond as a teen with Kate Spades, moved up to Gucci/Prada in my early twenties and am now on the Chanel/Hermes bandwagon. Although, I am a very SIMPLE plain jane kind of luxe gal. So Hermes and Chanel's classic bags seem to fit my flashy but simple trend.

A bit like that for me too. Experimented with lots of quirky designers, then LV, then Chanel and now Hermes. I tend to build a collection with one brand (get obsessed ;)) and only when the essentials are in, move on to the next while not totally forgetting favourites...they are always there somewhere. Some of the recent LV designs, especially the non monogram ones are quite tempting too. I will probably look in on LV again in a bit.

I think it's an age thing too (not in a getting old way but about emotional maturity and increased purchasing power as you hit your 30s and 40s compared to your 20s in many cases)...I only started liking Chanel after crossing 35. And while I'm planning to buy some of the more casual Hermes bags during the next few hops off ban island, I'm hoping for a Kelly for my big 40.

Not emotionally there yet to want a B...or even a K quite yet. It'll hit me when it's time. Like with Chanel :)

I marked my big 3-0 by getting a tattoo and was hoping to mark my 40th when it comes with something a little more grown up...oh and also another tattoo :)

LV was my first premiere designer bag [gift] I actually do not like LV, then got a Prada [also gift], then Burberry [another gift], then got a Gucci, and that was it. I absolutely LOVE Gucci, as far as premiere designers go, but I also love Dooney & Bourke. There are only two Hermes bags I want [1 birkin and 1 kelly] I don't like any of the styles of any of their other bags or items. I'll likely stick with Dooney & Gucci as my staples, and occasionally add other designers.
