Distance Sale

I recently placed an order from the SF boutique and here's how they explained it to me - my shipping address was in TX and since there's a Goyard boutique in my state (Dallas) they would not charge me a premium fee, I paid state sales tax + $60 for shipping instead. If it were shipped to a state without boutique presence then they'd charge the premium fee instead of state sales tax, plus shipping. HTH!

Thank you. As I understand it, many states now require merchants with no store in the state to collect the sales tax for distance sales and pay it to the state to which they are shipping. That is the "premium" that people are referring to. It is just a state's way of collecting sales tax revenue they were previously missing out on, but I don't know how many merchants actually cooperate with it or how it is enforced.

Anyone know if they no longer send the invoice for the distance sale? The SA states they process the card manually now. I just want to be sure before I give him my card details since I reached out to him directly.

My SA sent me an invoice via email, I signed it electronically and then he called me for my CC info for processing.

Does Goyard do distance sales in Europe across countries?
I will be in Lisbon and am hoping I can purchase a bag or two and have it delivered to my hotel.
If anyone has done this, I would appreciate you sharing your experience.
How long did it take to purchase the bag and for it to arrive? Any issues with having it delivered to a hotel? Shipping cost? Were you able to get VAT back?

My experience was from a few years ago, but when I lived in Europe in a country without a Goyard, I did have a few bags successfully mailed to me. However, there was nothing fast about the process so I would plan accordingly.

Most of my requests (the website had a distant acquisition link for writing- not sure if it still does) went unanswered. But during the successful transactions, it was days between every step along the way. 1. I would like this bag. 2. Here is the cost of the bag. 3. Ok, I would still like the bag. 4. Send a transfer to this account (I think they might take credit card now). 5. Ok, we received the money and can send it now via 2-3 day shipping (all bets are off if there is a weekend involved).

On the last bag, the warehouse got my address number completely incorrect on the shipping label so that added many more days to shipping. Since I lived there, I can't give any info on hotels or VAT. Shipping cost was hefty.

Thank you so much for your response! I think I’ll try to make a stop in Paris instead. I don’t want to deal with the hassle of the process and the uncertainty of the shipping/delivery timeline. I was hoping the process would be more straightforward in Europe than the US, but, unfortunately for me, it seems like it isn‘t.

It honestly was cheaper and easier just to take an EasyJet flight to Paris or Milan for a day trip and pick up a bag vs. the ordering process and shipping charge. And nothing wrong with quick trip to Paris for shopping! I went last year before we moved back to the US and by dumb luck my daughter and I ended up walking on the street with the Goyard boutique and there was no line and that was my last Goyard purchase. Now I'm back in the US and in a state with no Goyard and I have been reading in this Forum trying to figure out if I should call BH or SF or just road trip over there.

Good luck on whatever you decide!

As much as I love Goyard, I don’t think it’s worth the US price! I’ve bought mostly in Europe but recently purchased a mini Anjou here. I couldn’t wait to get it and after using it for a while, I feel like I should have waited to purchase in Europe. Though it’s a cute bag, it feels like I overpaid and if I ever want to sell, I’ll lose money. Of course whenI go to Europe, I buy more than I intend to so Im over spending anyway! Anyway, I don’t think I’ll have time to travel Paris during this trip so maybe next year when we take the kids to Paris! I’ll just try to use and enjoy the bags I have right now.

Does anyone have a good contact for the Dallas store For a distance sale? I filled out the distance sale form out on the goyard site days ago but haven’t received a response. Thank you in advance!

Has anyone purchased a bag to be delivered in Germany? I've received a quote offer for the Artois PM but they are offering to ship the bag for 165 EUR which will take 30/45 days! Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm considering going to the store myself to buy it

I can’t remember where she purchased from but I think I recall that it was in Europe. It’s always better to purchase in person so you can inspect the handles. $165 is a hefty amount for shipping imo.
