Distance Sale

I recently ordered Claire Voie via a distance sale from the Bal Harbour/Miami Boutique. The premium was $240, which I was not expecting. I wasn't charged sale tax so I guess I can "pretend":annoyed: like its a sales tax. Nonetheless, I love the bag. It was very difficult to get but worth the hassle and extra expense. For any future orders, I will stick with BG in NYC to order any standard stock items. They have the best customer service and free, overnight shipping. Unfortunately, their stock has been limited recently and I live in a state where there is a Neiman Marcus so I have to pay the sales tax. Prior to the pandemic, I had no issue ordering any bag/accessory I wanted from Bergdorf's.

Even during the pandemic I never had a BG issue. It’s literally been since December/January. I really don’t get why they have such a stock issue now but it sucks. The free shipping was great. It pained me to pay neiman shipping when it was $30 in January, let alone the $60 I paid Monday (and fyi, I still don’t have the bag, tracking says tomorrow), but I still did it so I guess I’m part of the problem haha.

That's nuts! I shopped with them back in 2021 and was charged shipping only. I assume this is the Goyard inside NM? Have you tried the Goyard in Dallas, TX? Their store seem to be well stocked the last time I called. Goyard inside BG is where I've purchased most of my Goyard pieces but based on this forum, they seem to have limited stock.
Dallas has the premium now as well.

It is. I was shocked too since it was only a couple weeks apart when I inquired about the second purchase. Just saw another member made a recent order but didn’t get charged any premium. I wonder if it’s based on the product categories and their demand.

So i just ordered from
Neiman Chicago Goyard this week. It was a $60 shipping fee then my local tax. Nothing above that.
In January the shipping fee was $30, so I paid $30 more for this St. Louis. Sucks but I still made the purchase….
That’s great you don’t have to pay any premium. I purchased an item in March and another in April and only paid the $30 shipping. Then in May they told me it’s going to be a $310 premium which includes the shipping cost.

NM and BG don't follow the premium fee practice. They have their own shipping fee (I think BG ships free actually) and they are required to collect the state sales tax. I think if you purchase and ship directly from Goyard in a state that has a store and ship to a state with a store you will pay the sales tax and not the premium.

Hi all, first time poster. I’m trying to purchase a St. Louis PM in the US. Shipping would be from FL to MA and they quote d me $200 for ground shipping. That does not sound right to me. Am I wrong and that’s what they charge? I’m sorry but that seems super expensive.

Sorry…I’ve read about the premium that is being added on and the rest of the problems people are having trying to buy bags. I can understand issues when looking for a new “special” bag, but in my opinion, Goyard is being unreasonable. I’m glad I bought my St. Louis several years ago with ease…ordered over the phone from Bergdorf’s and it was shipped directly from Goyard. I would never, ever pay $200 for shipping within the U.S.. No more Goyard for me!

I recently placed an order from the SF boutique and here's how they explained it to me - my shipping address was in TX and since there's a Goyard boutique in my state (Dallas) they would not charge me a premium fee, I paid state sales tax + $60 for shipping instead. If it were shipped to a state without boutique presence then they'd charge the premium fee instead of state sales tax, plus shipping. HTH!

Thank you. As I understand it, many states now require merchants with no store in the state to collect the sales tax for distance sales and pay it to the state to which they are shipping. That is the "premium" that people are referring to. It is just a state's way of collecting sales tax revenue they were previously missing out on, but I don't know how many merchants actually cooperate with it or how it is enforced.

Anyone know if they no longer send the invoice for the distance sale? The SA states they process the card manually now. I just want to be sure before I give him my card details since I reached out to him directly.
