OMG!!
I just had the most fantastic buying experience with eBay seller rpg212, and got a big fan of hers!

Most gorgeous shawl in perfect condition at bargain price, was very securely packaged and arrived in two days.
Communication all through the transaction was so quick and pleasant.
Surprisingly, she even packed M&Ms for me!!... I wonder she saw the Finds thread where we joked about starving in cashmere and eat M&Ms... :graucho:

From her excellent feedback record, she is an established Hermes reseller.
I'll definitely keep an eye on her listing, and highly recommend her to members!

She really is one of the sweetest. The last time I bought something from her, I casually mentioned that I just had a baby and was on maternity leave, she sent a whole lot of goodies for the baby, on top of the lovely bag i bought.

It's H SCARF WEEK here at Casa del Clutchbag! :D

I have just received the most gorgeous cobalt blue Grand Fonds from *bay seller miluinu (Mika) who is in Japan. Mailed on Thursday, delivered on Monday! Now that's what I call great service. The scarf, of course, is amazing. Very sweet seller, couldn't have asked for more.

And now... off to the PO to collect *something special* from *bay seller okier that was delivered so quickly I actually missed the mail carrier! Will report when I get home. ;)

Picked up my second carre du jour, from the lovely okier (who is a sweet tPF member, so you may bid with confidence!) It is a fabulous Ex Libris "carre invisible" in a luscious framboise c/w. Gorgeous scarf, super-speedy shipping, professional-grade packaging - thank you, okier! :hugs:

^^
Yay! H SCARF WEEK at Casa del Clutchbag!!

Hoping someone has a helpful suggestion about what to do now:

On Sunday I bid on & won an H scarf ring (sorry if anyone here was also bidding on this; it was a rather sweet last second snipe!). I thought I'd got quite a good deal as my winning bid was 47.25 euro. The listing stated that the postage within Belgium (where the item is located) was only 2 euro and that it could be shipped elsewhere in Europe. I didn't check in advance what the postage would be to the UK, but really, how much more could it cost? Apparently the seller feels 20 euro is appropriate (possibly a liitle annoyed at not getting more for the ring, methinks!).
I have contacted Ebay who feel that this charge is rather extortionate too, and told me file a report, which I have done. I have also contacted the seller (bit of a language barrier problem here) and said that the price for me ship a similar item from the UK to Belgium would be a third of the price s/he has quoted and I wasn't prepared to pay more than 10 euro. I received a reply that I think said whilst s/he wasn't happy about it, they would charge 10 euro. However there has been no change to the invoice & I don't know how to go about getting the seller to change it, given the language problems (I've not had a reply to the email asking for the invoice to be adjusted). Also, it took 2 hours of queuing online yesterday (despite initial wait time estimated at 35 mins!!) to get to "chat" to someone at ebay so I'd prefer to try any other options first!

I'd really appreciate any help you could give! TIA :D

Jules, *Bay is notoriously unhelpful (probably because they are always swamped with complaints!)
How are you paying for the auction? Paypal? You might pursue the issue of the postage overcharge through them instead. Or if it is through your credit card, you can file an overcharge dispute with them as well.

One other thought: sometimes the seller can't (or won't) send a new invoice, but will simply refund money to your payment system. I have had this happen with both Paypal and credit card payments - and on one memorable occasion, I opened my package and actual CASH fell out! :smile1:
So don't give up hope.

Thanks for this Clutchbag, but given the tone of the brief email the seller sent me, I really don't think I would trust them to refund the overcharge!
With the inflated price, I think I would prefer to pay a bit more & buy it from a boutique directly, at least then I get the enjoyment of buying it that always comes with H!:D

To your question about delivery to the UK.
I've purchased items on Ebay Germany with delivery to the UK and both sellers used HERMES Delivery http://www.hermes-europe.co.uk/default.html The cost was €15.00 around the €20 mark is right in my view.
This price also includes tracking.
I hope this helps you.

Jules, I think you understand now that it is best to ask all questions regarding any transaction prior to bidding as to do so afterwards can only cause angst to both you and the seller and is unfair to any seller.

Worth considering when benchmarking your idea of what is fair on postage is that the seller may also be charging for insurance and tracking, depending on the method they use.

Whilst I know, from experience, that some European sellers (not including the UK here) can charge what we deem as expensive shipping, it is not always so once the parcel arrives and you see the postage label and take into consideration packaging costs as well.

Also worth noting, a seller pays PayPal fees on the postage element of your payment as well as the PayPal thieves charge a commission on the total amount a seller receives, not just the amount of the actual sale itself.

Of course, if it is not too late, you may ask the seller if they will kindly consider cancelling the transaction altogether. Although I don't think they will be too happy having lost other potential genuine buyers, having to go through the non paying bidder process and then relisting again ... but if you are that unhappy, perhaps the seller will consider this option?
