Obviously I can't comment on your friends experience but as for pictures I think I know why the items are initially posted without images. When I enquired about a BBK it would have been available in 10 days and a deposit required. I didn't go ahead with the purchase but Designer4less knew that a BBK sellier was a very desirable bag so went ahead with the transaction and ordered the bag anyway. She listed it and advised when images would be available. It sold before pictures were ever posted.

This seller sells lots of authentic Hermes bags. Designer4less is a limited UK company with nearly 700 positive eBay feedback and a growing reputation in the Hermes community. I would personally trust her bags but at the end of the day if you don't like some aspect of her sales process then like all of us you are free to take your $$ elsewhere.

I need to take a look at current eBay rules, but this may be a violation of eBay policy.

eBay does not permit sellers to take money and THEN order an item. You must, I believe, have the item already in order to sell it.

Again, I really need to go back and see if the rules have changed. I would not want, however, to send any money to any who would then "order" a birkin.

This seller may have recent 3 feedbacks for selling supposedly authentic birkins. But if you search 'designer4less', there were some concerns regarding authenticity in some of the hermes birkins they listed.

This forum is a great source of information and assistance for those looking to buy authentic Hermes bags but at the end of the day authentication by proxy is always going to be a matter of opinion. I am always very thorough before I part with any hard earned income and I did that with this reseller. I have had many conversations with this supplier, have investigated their business - they are registered with Government Trading Standards in the UK as a re-seller of designer goods and have satisfied myself with their operating practices. The owners reputation is built on selling original designer product. Have you actually spoken to anyone at Designer4less? Their contact details are available on their eBay site and on their other website.

They sell to a wide range of private clients - I am one of those. I didn't go through eBay to enquire about a BBK I contacted them directly. This does not contravene any eBay guidelines.

This is a powerful forum and I am a big fan but I feel compelled to post this as my real and thorough experience with this supplier has been 100 authentic in every way and I would urge anyone who is seriously interested to contact the reseller and make your own mind up.

Cheapfrillnorth, this thread's purpose is to allow people to talk about their experiences. As the saying goes, your mileage may vary.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this seller. Yours was good. Others have, it appears, reservations. Everyone has to make up their own mind about the level of risk they are prepared to accept in an aftermarket transaction.

As Mistikat said, this is a thread for discussion and viewpoints will vary.

At the moment, cheapthrillnorth and I will probably be agreeing to disagree.

The bags that I have seen to date from this seller (design4less2009 on eBay) have not met anyone's complete comfort level when presented here for authentication.

Yes, the seller (on eBay for a year) has over 700 feedback, but there is not a body of Hermes history here and there are a number of items that cost just a few dollars.

They are also advertising bags on eBay not in their possession at the time the listing is created.

This is for me a seller that is far, far away from making it onto any list of respectable resellers, despite the suggestion of this poster that they belong on the list.

It is safer to be cautious. At this point my feelings about the seller are very, very cautious.

I agree and I would just add that as always the reseller is only as good as their own personal ability to tell an authentic bag from one that is not, even with the best of intentions.

Frankly, there are very, very few resellers in whom I have confidence in that respect. The above seller does not make it into that category for me at this point.

My feeling about the pictures and presentation of the bags by quite a few of these resellers is that they are lacking. It really is a case of caveat emptor in a very large degree.

Really good point and well made. I guess that is why the approved resellers take years to build good reputations. It isn't just access to stock it is knowing what it right and what isn't.

A quick nod to Achimnelly who has just sold me another beautiful H scarf. Thrilled to bits with the purchase and he's such a lovely seller to deal with. Takes great care in describing the scarf, exactly as it is, and makes the experience so easy and pleasant. A joy.
