Disappointed in empreinte leather

Well, it's not that I'm unhappy. I am happy, but only 95%. I feel like for the money it costs shouldn't I feel 100%? But then again, nothing is perfect so maybe I should just accept the imperfections (even though I wish I didn't have to). I also realize that a chance to find a "better one" are slim to none. In total I looked at 4 noir ones, 3 aurore, 2 dune and 1 cerise. All had something going on. So this one is a gem in a way (lol, not perfect but a gem nonetheless) :)
So part of me tells me to just live with it. And another part says at least check out one more before you call it quits.

I'm so sad that you feel like this, my Montaigne friend  I can read from your posts that you are just as picky as I am...I'm a pain in the ".... " for my LocalTalk LV store :shame:
But I can assure you, I'm 100 % happy with my Montaigne because it is flawles.
Leather is natural material and there will be differences. I've seen really bad Montaigne bags, but also perfect flawless ones, so you will find the right one if you want to return yours. I must say that yours look perfect in the pictures, but if it is visible IRL you will not stop thinking about it.
I have two Empreinte bags, Artsy and the Montaigne, and they are both flawless and the quality of the leather is outstanding.
Good luck with your desicion :thinkin:

You may be having the "Is this thing really worth $3000?" blues.
It is an intellectual argument within yourself and you may feel better if you return it. I had a similar experience with a LV bag which cost $2740 and felt like a "sucker" after I stared at it on my dresser. Felt big relief when I sent it back. Only you can decide........

No, that's not it. The bag is definitely worth the money. It's beautiful and the design suits me perfectly. I think it's totally worth the money.

Hello guys,

Thank you so much for your opinions and thoughts. All of you provided different point of views, which make total sense.
I plan to look at one more today at the store (if they have it) and if that's not "it" then I'll probably just keep mine.

Ok, I don't know if empreinte leather can be disappointing for some or if I'm just overly picky?
I've looked at many empreinte bags IRL and browsed through many photos online. I've learned to spot differences in leather smoothness and grain variations.
Some bags I touched felt smooth and soft, some felt hard and stiff. Initially I was a bit disappointed with how dry and rough empreinte felt (I expected it to feel luxury and soft). Supposedly it becomes more supple with time, so we'll see. I learned to accept and even love it (strange how we can convince ourselves to love something if we want it bad enough).

However, what I'm most disappointed about is that embossing can vary. And no, I'm not talking about some bags being deeper embossed and others lighter embossed. I'm talking about the same bag, the same side where a part of the bag has lighter embossing than the rest of it.
Maybe I'm too detailed or picky, or I fixate on little details. But why would LV even produce a bag with a leather piece that didn't get embossed uniformly?

I am trying to love my bag, I really do, because I've experienced how difficult it is to come across a perfect one (I've seen some really off pieces). And I tell myself that it's such a little thing to worry about, yet it is a big thing for me as I do want to enjoy my bag. So my question to you guys is, do you notice these kinds of imperfections and simply ignore them and enjoy your bag? Or is it bothering you and you exchange the bag? Or it only bothers you at the beginning and then eventually you forget it?
You are not the first to feel this way. That's why I still couldn't bring myself to get the speedy emp. I feel for such a price point, the bag should be done much better at the end of the top part zippers. I would say the Marais is the best out of the emp line, 2nd is the Montaigne. It's nicely embossed on the front, back and bottom. I had the Marais but I let it go because handheld didn't worked for me and the zippers was a little tarnished by just sitting in the closet. I would exchange the bag that you got because I've seen better pieces.

Hi Dawn, sure, here it is below.
It's the same side of the bag, the left part is Ok, but the right part (look at top right corner especially) the imprint is much lighter. Probably due to the grain of the leather it didn't want to give in to the embossing.

Am I making a bigger deal out of it than it is? Is this normal?
I would exchange that bag.

I don´t think you´re making a bigger deal out of it than it is, I would feel the same way as you and would look at it every time I saw my bag. I think for that amount of money you should be as close to 100% happy as possible. I understand it´s probably very difficult to find a bag that is absolutely 100% flawless and leather is a natural material but this is obviously bothering you and I think you should exchange it while you still can, or at least look at some others to satisfy your mind. You need to be able to look at that bag and know that it´s "the one". Good luck and keep us posted :-)

+1 I'm sorry you're disappointed. I have an Empreinte Artsy and feel that the leather and overall quality of the bag is outstanding. While I definitely would mind a textile lining in a Chanel bag, I don't in this one -- simply because the bag would be even heavier than it already is!

That said, I don't feel that you should keep a bag that you are dissatisfied with. Especially at that price point!

I couldn't agree with you more. I have an empreinte artsy and find that the embossing and leather quality to be really good. I do not have any different variations on the bag. I think as someone else earlier said it depends on the leather. My bag is still pretty stiff as I rotate out my bags quite often and keep it stuffed with a pillow when not in use so I guess that is why it would be stiff. But if you are not happy with it then maybe try to exchange it out if you still can.

Thank you! That's exactly what I plan to do. Look at one more to satisfy my mind and quiet my worry. Thanks again!

Vernis embossing has the same issue. If it bothers you, don't keep it.

Don't I know it! :) I've see many issues with vernis too. Despite this lack of quality control at LV, I still like their products. It's about finding the "good one", but sometimes it's kind of exhausting and unnecessarily time consuming.

I adore my Empreinte Speedy B 30 and am planning to buy the 25 in the Dune colour in the spring. I honestly cannot even see anything in the photos you posted, but then again I may be more easy-going with these things and have learned that, unfortunately, nothing in this world seems to be flawless, regardless of how much it costs :). However, I do think that you should feel totally happy with your bag, and since you do not, you should not just "settle".

Update and a happy ending:

Thank you everyone for your input! You are so wonderful and helpful, I couldn't have done it without you, guys! :hugs:

I looked for a possible exchange once with no luck. I thought I settled, but then decided to look again. And again, no luck. Few days have passed and I decided to look one last time, before calling it quits. And I ended up finding a bag with a texture and embossing I prefer. I am really happy! I absolutely LVoe it!
