Disappointed in empreinte leather

Hi Dawn, sure, here it is below.
It's the same side of the bag, the left part is Ok, but the right part (look at top right corner especially) the imprint is much lighter. Probably due to the grain of the leather it didn't want to give in to the embossing.

Am I making a bigger deal out of it than it is? Is this normal?

Hmm .. since you asked then yes I wouldn't get stuck on that and would just enjoy the beautiful bag.

But if you can't rest comfortably until it's fixed, what are you going to do .. exchange?

Sorry to hear you are disappointed. I adore my black empreinte Speedy! I do think there are variances in the bags, but that makes them more unique in my opinion. I hope you find a bag in the line you love!

Hi there, may I throw my opinion in.
As a long time LV user, and of late moved on, but still am interested in the brand and like what I have, my opinion is do not settle.

If there is always something quietly screaming at you when you pick the bag up you will not completely love it and feel "at one" with it.

Stick to your instincts and find one that is "yours".
These are not insignificant purchases, whatever the model, but an Empreinte piece even more so.
It must make you feel a million dollars when you wear it, and I don't get that feeling from you when you talk about it.

Hope that helps.

Thank you, SweetDaisy. I do love the bag style and I did start liking the empreinte. It's the quality control that seems to lack over at LV and it makes me a little sad. The bag I have in my possession currently is the pure luck (I've seen all sorts of defective ones; crooked zippers, unevenly stitched sides, off center bases, etc.) I felt so lucky to come across mine. It took some effort to come across and I say to myself: Seriously? Did it really need to have this embossing tiny flaw after everything I went through to get it? I'll probably end up keeping it. Because there's no other bag style, no other brand suits my needs like this one. But I'm not happy that I "have" to keep it, because most likely there's no better one out there. And I don't think it's reasonable to be hunting the perfect one down, there are more important things in life. Ahhh LV, LV, wish you'd be more thorough.
If it bothers you, go to another LV store and look at more of them or order a few more of them online and compare. Otherwise, it will bother you forever and for this much $$$ you should be completely happy.

As you know, the monogram depth is not the same for every purse. I always inspect the embossing to make sure it suits my taste. You can find embossing that is uniformly deep. How do I know because I own them? My Marias has the best embossing for me. I love the style of this bag. The relief pattern on the flowers really pops. Every time I look at that bag I smile. I have a short story. When I was buying my Terre Speedy, the SA grabbed one off the shelf that looked like it had been handled a lot.The embossing seemed very faint on the top half of the bag. I immediately told the SA that I could not purchase the bag even with the price increase approaching. The SA told me some look that way. I was like OK do you have another one or I will come back later. The SA looked and found the Terre Speedy that I purchased and enjoy today. It takes patients when finding the perfect bag even though we know no bag is perfect, but you know perfect to our taste. Take some time to reflect what is important for you on a bag. I am sure you will find your perfect bag. Happy shopping! :smile1:

Your bag is leather which has natural variations in it. If it were synthetic, the design, pebbling etc. would be perfectly uniform! That part looks less pebbled so if the leather is slightly softer there the embossing may not be as deep.
I have four empreinte speedys. One is softer and the empreinte print has gotten fainter, especially at the top and side seam areas of the bag.
I think your bag is absolutely gorgeous and the design looks nice and deep. If there is no real front or back to the bag I would just move the clochette to the other side and then this area will be to the back.
Having said that, if this is really bothering you should wait to wear it until you're absolutely certain you'll be happy with it. Maybe look at a few more to know if this is the one for you.
I know what you are saying, with this kind of purchase you want to be 100% happy! :smile1:

My emp speedy is not completely uniform either. It's something I've noticed but never really bothered me. It's inevitable for the embossing to grow fainter over time anyway so I suppose that's why it's never been an issue.

But nobody on here will be able to convince you to be happy with it.. I say if you are only 95% then try to exchange it for one with more even embossing, if that does not exist then wait for one.. it seems that will be the only thing that will satisfy you, and that's perfectly okay, don't settle!

I love empreinte pieces so much when I see them new in the store, but when I see others carrying them, or see them on Yoogis closet , they're quite faded and you can hardly see the embossing. There's a lady that works in my office, she has an artsy in a cream colored empreinte that she's carried for a while now. The embossing is almost completely gone, you have to look up close to even know it's there.

Is it only the bottom bugging you?
I say use and love it.. In no time you will forget about it.. Believe me I'm very picky but this would be something that after using and loving the bag I would forget about. Especialy since its on the bottom of the bag. :D

It sounds to me like you're trying to convince yourself to be okay with it, and you shouldn't do that! If it bugs you, it bugs you; you should weigh whether you think once you have the joy of taking the bag out and using it you can think of the imperfections as making them more your own specific, individual bag or whether it will just keep bothering you. If the latter, then I say keep looking. As many others have said here, it's not worth it to be bothered by a bag that you've invested your time and money in!

You may be having the "Is this thing really worth $3000?" blues.
It is an intellectual argument within yourself and you may feel better if you return it. I had a similar experience with a LV bag which cost $2740 and felt like a "sucker" after I stared at it on my dresser. Felt big relief when I sent it back. Only you can decide........

I have a few bags with tiny "flaws" ( a dot of glue on the underside of one of my Speedy zipper pulls, for example) but the love for them always outweighed that nagging feeling that there was something wrong with them and I couldn't use them. The only bags that had "big" flaws were some pre-loved bags I purchased -- and those I returned right away.

I think if you'll keep looking at that embossed area and notice it every time you use the bag, you should exchange or buy a different bag. I wouldn't want to have those feelings about a new bag bought from the boutique! You want to be happy and enjoy carrying it and not second guessing yourself down the road when it's too late to return it!

Your bag is beautiful. The Empreinte line is special to me. I really love and enjoy my bags. Maybe another leather line will suit you more. You should not spend a lot of money on a bag that you don't fully enjoy. I hope you enjoy your bag or find another LV purse that makes your heart sing. :smile1:

+1 I'm sorry you're disappointed. I have an Empreinte Artsy and feel that the leather and overall quality of the bag is outstanding. While I definitely would mind a textile lining in a Chanel bag, I don't in this one -- simply because the bag would be even heavier than it already is!

That said, I don't feel that you should keep a bag that you are dissatisfied with. Especially at that price point!
