Tagging @Styleanyone here to answer whether this denim bar jacket is relatively true to size. If most dior size 40 skirts fit your waist, and if you can wear a bar jacket style, (in other words, if your boobs do not require sizing up), then this denim jacket should fit.

I have a thick waist, for my size, so some versions of the bar don’t work, and some have to be let out. There is no seam allowance to let out the waist on this denim model, so if you are unsure (like I was) best to try on before purchase.

@Styleanyone, my understanding is for full price RTW, tailoring is gratis; but for sale RTW, there may be a nominal fee. Your SA also may be able to waive any charges. For sale RTW especially, I often use my excellent third party professional tailor for many reasons including speed. I don’t think alternations on an underpining should be much, but I don’t know for sure

Note: I dislike most dior slips and prefer to use my own

ETA : looks like it’s puckering in the pics, but it wasn’t hard to button so I got it  My SA said a size up would be too big all over
I’ve gotten private message inquiries about the fit of this size 40 denim bar jacket, so I wanted to add some more thoughts here. One person said that her SA told her that a client who wears a 36/38 found this jacket to be too tight. I would surmise that client might have found the bust area too tight, IDK. If you have a larger bra cup size than a B, a size 36 person might not be able to button this jacket. But I assume generally that someone who wears a fitted size 36 Dior waist should fit into a 40 denim bar. For another point of reference, that person, or a person who could easily fit into this, with more room to spare, might be a 36 chanel jacket.

Although I wrote above that a size 40 dior dress should fit into the 40 Dior denim bar, I misspoke. I just realized that my under the sea dress is a 38 which was my unit of measure. The denim bar has no stretch and no seam allowance whatsoever. There is no room to move a button. Someone asked me how this fit compares to a knit bar jacket, and I would say that the denim Bar is more slim cut, but it is probably TTS in comparison to a standard Dior bar jacket. (The macro cannage and knit bar jackets are both cut larger). For my body type, the Bar jacket cut one of the more challenging styles for Dior RTW. I am very slowly and laboriously losing weight, and the bar style simply didn’t work when I carried more weight in my torso or arms. I can button it easily now, but if I were going out for a large and yummy meal, or if I felt a bit bloated, I would definitely wear something else lol.

ETA: I have a long waist, and find many dior dresses too short waisted. This denim bar also sits comfortably on my waist, which leads me to believe that it won’t fit someone who is a bit shorted waisted. I’m not sure what MGC was thinking when she designed the cut and size of these items, but they are not exactly forgiving. My SA did indicate to me that there is another denim bar jacket next season with slightly slimmer lapels. HTH

This is stunning and such a great price too!!
Thank you @fibbi
I’m glad my SA thought of me when he saw it

@Styleanyone , apologies, I thought I had responded to your query re sale alteration. For full price merchandise, alterations are complimentary. For Sale, I believe there is a nominal fee, (which your SA might be able to waive), but I imagine that to alter a slip should not be too costly. There may be a considerable wait if you use an in house tailor, esp. for sale merchandise. i dislike dior slips and, like @pigleto972001 , I prefer to use my own slip. (I have a commando one too)

ETA: IMO, if one has figure issues, dior slips never fit properly, and at least mine never seem to even fit or line the RTW properly (But maybe it’s how I fill the slip, IDK)

Thank you @880. I am going to use my own slip for now, then decide if I have the need to get it altered.
