It depends on the print, but by and large, the shirt dresses tend to sell out prior to making it to sale. However, the skirts from the same collection often do make it to sale in my experience. I agree that often times, the prices are hard to swallow.
Thanks so much for the advice! I called the Dior outlet store in Woodbury and they pretty much told me the same thing, that shirt dresses tend to sell out in the retail stores and therefore never make it to outlet. the dress's interested in is 6.4k, I just can't wrap my mind around that price for an unlined cotton dress w/ no special details besides a beautiful print and a flattering silhouette.
@lala_retro , I agree with @luckylove re the seasonal print dresses. My most expensive one was Under the Sea a few years ago. It never made it to sale, and I still feel fortunate to have purchased it while my size was available. It remains one of my favorite dresses. If you absolutely love and must have a special pattern and will wear it well past its season, it may be worth it. If it’s a simpler pattern that’s likely to repeat like a TdJ, i would check out skirts. Your SA should be able to guess which are relatively plentiful and likely to make it to sale. I will say that I do wear the more basic skirts (or simpler hoodie dresses ) more than under the Sea.
So the one I'm eyeing is this one. I can wear it late spring - fall, and it's surprisingly flattering of a silhouette despite the relatively simple style. However for a dress that's just cotton, unlined, with no special detailing, I find the price a bit ridiculous. I mean, a couple more grand and it'll be the same as a Chanel tweed jacket. The truly ironic thing is, I wasn't even interested in this dress, I went in for the millefiori shirt dress but they didn't have it in the store, so I was only trying this one on for size, and fell in love the more I looked at it in the mirror. I'll ask the SA if she thinks this might survive till the sale. Thanks for the advice!
