Did you stop buying/using contemporary bags once you go luxury?

I never bought pre-loved sharing the same reason as you, scared to get a fake. And thought not a chance, until last month. I wanted to get the Prada Galleria tote in the limited edition baltico and finally managed to find it on eBay. Of course I was worried but I got help from the helpful authenticators on TPF to help authenticate the bag before I bid on it and another set of authentication once the bag is in my hands  bag is authentic, beautiful and I'm happy. Perhaps get in touch with the authenticators here before buying pre-loved next time?
I would probably do that if there was something I had to have, which there really isn't right now. I've bought Hermes scarves before pre-loved and would probably do that again.

Sometimes I wonder if I’ll lose interest in certain brands when I buy a bag that’s 4 figures... but I doubt it because my style has changed a few times over the years and it is still evolving. I love Alexander Wang but no longer own any of his bags. I drifted to Marc Jacobs to Coach to Rebecca Minkoff and am back with mostly Marc Jacobs, so I feel like I’ll still be into certain brands no matter what. Quality and style can be found at multiple price points.

In a way, yes. I started buying my ultimate dream bag in black leather (LV PM in black eimpreinte) so that it would match with everything. I now own 3 luxury bags that are completely different but work with certain outfits in their own way. Next bag will be a bigger bag. Now that I have these, I don't feel the need to even look at contemporary or sub contemporary bags bc I know I won't use them

I have until recently been focused exclusively on high-end designer bags, like Chanel, Hermes, and Dior. However, I just bought a Coach bag which has surprised me to no end. I fell in love with the Coach Cassie and after getting it, feel like I’m over expensive bags (I have enough classics to last me a lifetime) as this one is just as good quality and design as a Dior bag. The best part is it is a fraction of the price.

I am no longer purchasing any additional contemporary handbags. My daily is TB and will use my older KSNY when I don’t want to care what happens. I want to reduce the size my collection that is mostly KSNY, TB, MK, some Coach and Doney Burke, and non brands (Gap, Express, etc.). I admit I want to focus on premier brands, which I first purchased this year (LV - squeal).

I’m eating my words as I just bought a straw clutch from Express for $12. I couldn’t bring myself to spend more than that on trendier straw/raffia/wicker purses - despite wicked sales across net a porter, nieman Marcus, etc.

Since reading other similar posts, I’m wearing more my other KSNY bags - her quality is pretty awesome. I love love love my LV bags but sometimes I don’t want to feel like I’m jumping out of a plane when I walk out the door. I can afford to buy but not replace so readily.

I own multiple bags from Hermes and Chanel, but I buy contemporary bags for specific functions. E.g., recently bought a clear PVC bag from Michael Kors to take to concerts/sporting events. I simply can't justify forking over thousands for a Chanel PVC flap bag.

Yes. I have a few Coach bags from years past but all of my bags are premier designers. Anything, hmm, less expensive than a Coach and say, Longchamp, etc., I don’t have. I definitely don’t have anything from places like J. Crew or Banana. I do have a few clutches that are no name for going out. We barely do that so I can’t see spending the money on those when we don’t go out in the evening or when a clutch is called for.

Back in 2005, my then boyfriend now hubby bought me my first Speedy 30. It was the beginning of the end for non-premier bags simply due to quality. I’ll have these for years and years with the way I treat them. Just my two cents.

Pretty much stopped, but realize there are some times when I need a bag I can wear in times where it might get damaged. Certain outdoor festivals, travelling with fear of being robbed, I wear my Rebecca Minkoff for that.

I sold almost all of my contemporary bags a few months ago when I cut my collection in half. Trying to make sure I really use my classic premium bags (Chanel, Celine, Hermes, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent). But I keep a few (All Saints, Jerome Dreyfuss, Longchamp) for travel & days when I want to mix it up.

I've stopped purchasing new contemporary bags but I have kept a few around for occasions when a luxury bag is not appropriate (e.g. travel to certain places, charity events, certain meetings).

The one exception is straw bags! I just can't get enough and can't justify spending Premier prices when the high street, local vendors and artisans, or Marshalls/Nordstrom rack et al, have so many gorgeous designs for a fraction of the price.

I stopped browsing at contemporary brands after acquiring Chanel bags but Coach is introducing some really nice bags I got a parker 18 and I am contemplating getting the Cassie although I have the PM in empreinte leather. I have been extremely disappointed at the quality of high end designer handbags. After purchasing several high end bags, I am more open to contemporary handbags because many of the Tory Burch, Coach, old Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Longchamps I own are able to handle way more beating than the luxury branded bags I have. Just my personal experience. Some might disagree

I'm like you. I've purchased from all the big names, LV, Hermes, Fendi, Chanel, Loewe, & Gucci. Lately I like what Any Hindmarch, Marc Jacobs and Coach is doing and have several bags from these contemporary designers. They are easier to carry out and I don't care or worry about them as much. Could be just the mood I am in right now.

I use kipling bag to work all the time. And alternate using LV gucci and roots bag for other days. You can use everything altogether. Kipling is a very weather friendly bag. I only wear my high end stuff during winter..well except m6 LV favorite because I didnt mind it getting wet at all. I dont see why you have to stop using contemporary bags just because you are into high end now.
