I get it but I’m not doing it for anyone but me. I know I can’t see the earrings but I like the confidence boost from knowing that my face is more lit up from the sparkle if that makes sense.

An idea - why don’t you get diamond jackets made for whatever size studs you decide on, to wear when you want a big look? They would have great wow factor! 
I wear 1cttw, and for me, they are the perfect size. I tried on bigger studs when I bought mine but bigger felt overpowering. I’m average height and weight.
My earlobes are medium to small, not big and fleshy… maybe that plays a part in me liking smaller studs?
I also have very small moissanite studs (3mm each) and I adore them for every day. They look so chic because they shine like crazy and they add a small, elegant sparkle, but they’re not nice for a night out unless I’m wearing something complicated or a big necklace.

As previous posters noted, the size of your lobes definitely affects the visual impact. My studs are approx 2ctw (1ct each/6.3mm). I am petite and my lobes are on the smaller side. My day-to-day lifestyle is casual (WFH), but I attend semi-formal events somewhat frequently. I find the size to be perfect. I have long dark hair that is always down (except for the gym, yard/housework) and they are noticeable enough without being OTT. I wear them every day, even to the gym, and rarely switch out to other earrings. You could always buy cheap CZ studs in various sizes to get a feel for what works for you. Good luck deciding!

Colour makes a difference - brighter, whiter diamonds look bigger. I have E colour plain studs which aren’t very big, (.75) I think, but they are noticeable and I’ve had compliments on them. They're a very wearable size for every day.
I love big studs but they are not for everyone...buy what you feel comfortable wearing. I'm very tall with fleshy earlobes, so the bigger the better!

Questions to all the stud wearers here….do you all wear them in your first lobe holes? Do you have other piercings or just wear the studs solo? Do you put them in every day and take them off at night?

I just have one hole in each ear. I don't wear mine daily. I go through phases I guess. Lately in summer I've been wearing mostly silver earrings
I don't sleep with the studs. apparently some people do but I don't find it comfortable.
