My earrings are in threaded posts. When they are large, I think it's the wise thing to do. They are much less likely to come out of your ear. At first they bothered me, but I became accustomed to them. (Mine are in a basket set)

i'm glad you decided on diamond earrings and to wait for your dream ring ... or just a ring you're more sure of.. i'm exactly like you.. i've gotten fake diamond earrings.. cz's and such.. but after wearing them for a month i took them out... because I KNOW they aren't real.. and i just can't wear them!! your earrings are beautiful 
Mine studs are in basket but not protruding basket. The back push-in back w/ thread. They are not easily come off (have not come off yet so far) compare to the screw-in back.
I used to have a pair of studs 1ctw and it was screw-in back studs and it came off quite often. It felt off on my bed.
from what I can see of the settings, they are very pretty & detailed. I really like them. can't wait to see a pic of the side!

Here is my ring that my DH get beside the Studs. I just get this back from my sister. Bored at work so take pics w/ iphone to post. Pics does not do justice. I don't have specs.... diamonds and rubies & 14k wg, that is all I know.
I had great B-day on Sat. Beside, getting this lovely studs. My lovely DH also got the the cocktail ring that has ruby and diamond on it. I wore the ring on Sat night for dinner than Sun my sister took it from me and still have not return them yet. Urgh!!!! Look like, I will not get it back after Thanksgiving.

the ring is stunning! it looks to me like the stones are sapphires (blue) & possibly peridot (I saw a green stone)...rubies are red.
