Yea I am definitely in agreement about getting CZ studs. You can get REALLY nice ones from freecz.com and he'll even put them in platinum settings if you want!

^^^yes, I meant anything that LOOKS like diamonds. . . and I don't normally suggest that
I'd totally rather see it on my hand everyday than have to find a mirror and look vain staring in it to see the studs. Seriously.
I have both, studs that I think are big enough and a ring that's also big enough, and I get far more enjoyment staring at my hands; red lights, when I sign CC receipts, texting, etc. . . you always see it! :jrs:

Very true! A diamond ring is a very special piece of jewelry. It's the first piece of jewelry i focus on when looking at what jewelry a woman is wearing.
earrings are different - depending on what you are wearing it is nice to change styles (drop.stud, hoop, etc)
to match the style of what you have on - more of an accessory piece - whereas a ring is a forever if you know what i mean.
Emerald has always been my favorite cut (geometrics I guess just like in watch shapes) but it does lack the depth and sparkle of other cuts unless it is really up there in carat size. Al that being said .....go with what you really love and you cannot go wrong because you will be happy. Enjoy;)

E-RING!!! hands down!

i have a solitaire emerald cut engagement ring, ideal cut, G color, VS1, 2.03 cts, and i LOVE it so much.... my favorite cut of all time. it may not sparkle as much as a round brilliant, and may not face up as big, but in the end, it has to be what you LOVE.

carlinha-- :faint:

I personally am drawn to the flash from emerald cuts/step cuts/baguettes. for some reason to my mind & eye, they flash more. maybe I would think of the round as sparkly...rather than the big flash of the emerald cut's light return. just look at carlinha's dreamy ring. you definitely can't go wrong!!!

How long would you have to wait to get the 6.3 cushion e-ring?

Don't forget to insure the new jewelry!!

I always loved what my great-grandfather did for his wife. Every 5 years, he purchased a different e-ring, and had the old one made into something else. She started with a solitaire - by the 5th anniversary, he replaced it with a 3 stone, and made the solitaire into a pendant. At ten - the ring was a 5 karat with a halo setting, the 3 stone was remade into studs and a right hand ring... and so on until she had some major bling at 40th anniversary!

so... 3 stone now, and have those made into studs when you get your 6 karat?

By the way COOL avartar!

For that 6 ct, I would say about 20 yrs wait. I will be too old and withering to wear something that heavy and big.

Awwww!!!! That is so sentimental and cool that your great-grandparent did that. I would save for my son when he get married, either my e-ring or earring family present to my daughter in-law. I am Asian, so usually when the girl get married their mother-in-law give her a pair of studs and or pendant.

That is so funny that you say about buying insurance for jewlery. I did not insurance for my e-ring that was how it got me here at the first place. Then I just got rob AGAIN at our office. We got another house 2 blocks down and use as office for business and we just got robbed. 4 wks ago my car got broken at the restaurant. I thougth my bad luck as gone last year, but it just keep coming.

I definitely agree that we like to stare at hands at red light or stop sign. :P Yup with the studs, I might I have bring a full lenght mirrow w/ me at work.

Carlinha, what a beautiful ring! What is your finger size?

thank you!

my ring size is 3.5

from how you describe your emerald stone, i think it would look very similar to mine (but slightly bigger)... so i wanted to give you an idea what it would look like in a solitaire setting. it may not be as "sparkly" as a round cut, but i LOVE the open-ness of the cut, the long flashes, and staring down at it as if looking into a clear pool...

e-ring! Get simulated studs!

Good advice! I was in the market for a pair of diamond stud earrings, but decided that, before making the investment, I'd get a pair of CZs to wear to see how I liked the look. Although the CZs were gorgeous and sparkly, I just didn't like the look on me. The studs looked like generic place holders. So I'm glad I didn't invest in diamonds!

I think the op should wait and get what she really wants. If I understood her original post, she loves the emerald cut, but knowing that she'll probably want to trade up in a few years, is reluctant to get it because her jeweler is telling her the demand for emerald cuts is low so it can't be traded in. If that's the case, then it wouldn't make any sense to get an emerald cut unless she thinks she'll love it forever. I'd wait.

I did checked out and read about Asha diamond. I also did a a quick search on CZ and Moissanite and I think I prefer natural diamonds over simulated diamonds. If I invested in sims studs, it just soon or later I have to buy a real one.
