Hi Everyone. I'm a newbie here and need your advise. I have found two diamond stones (cushion cut), I can't seem to decide which to buy for my girlfriend of 6 years. The price between them is about $500. Can you give me some advise? Thank you in advance.

Congratz!!!! the pictures are perfect and I'm soooo happy for you! Congratz on getting engaged.... eeek!!! I'm glad you didn't wait and put that beautiful ring on her finger!

Any hand shots of it on her finger?

I know you're all getting antsy about the ring, and she has taken it with her nice camera (I tried with iphone but it blew haha) but she hasn't had time to upload it. She's a nurse and works nights and I work m-f 7-4 regular hours, we've got a lot on our mind with wedding planning (we're shooting for March 17th, 2012!!!) and house hunting, and probably the biggest reason is that we're both forgetful so we keep forgetting haha. And she doesn't like showing it off, but I made her take a pic. ANYWHO, she took it, she should be transferring it from her camera to her computer in a day or two (she works tonight and tomorrow night), THEN I'll post it up!

Ok FINALLY got them! And sorry they still aren't that good haha.

I have 2 rings i'm choosing from Tiffany, not sure which one is better, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

A) 2.05/F/VS1; Depth %: 61.4; Table: 57%; Crown angle: 34.1; Pavillion Angle: 41.2; thin to medium griddle. Excellent Polish/ symmetry and cut.

b) 2.01/F/VS1; Depth %: 62.3; Table: 56%; Crown angle: 35.3; Pavilion Angle: 40.7; medium griddle. Excellent Polish/ symmetry and cut.

Ok so here goes the story, as the pictures tell it...with some captions provided by yours truly. So, being from Chicago, we're both White Sox fans. And, being that I couldn't wait any longer, we both love to travel, and we both love to go to away sporting events, I figured this would be a great opportunity. So we get out of our private transportation van (my friend works for a hotel and got the hookup haha) and I knew this was the time. PERFECT, in the front of the stadium. So we stop for pictures. Here's the sequence:

First one, she thinks this is just a regular photo shoot (but should have guessed otherwise when all 4 people we were with had cameras out haha). I wasn't ready, hence my non-smile. Oh well.

Seriously, all I said was her full name and she was like "nu-uh. No way. Stop." and sort of knew it.

Got down and asked her. She still thought I was joking because I didn't have the ring out haha. She's still saying "stop, you're joking". I fumbled in my pocket for about 15 seconds haha, though it felt like forever.

I finally get it out and show her, and she finally believes it's real, though still in shock haha.

That's a big fat yes!

I stood up to complete the hug, because standing up back to back she's still got an inch or so on me, height wise haha, no need to stay on a knee to exaggerate the height difference

we're both still super excited and she almost knocks us over with the uber prolonged hug

one more I love you kiss!

Needless to say, she was BEYOND surprised, so that was a kudos to me. It was perfect for us, I couldn't have asked for a better scenario (except maybe that lady to be a little less creepy in the background of many of the pictures hahaha), and she couldn't have been happier. Sorry, no pictures of just the ring...just yet. Enjoy!

OMG! You did great!! I am so happy for your fiancee!!! Congrats!!!
The ring is pretty but perhaps because of the angle you took, it looks funny.
I totally understand as it is hard to capture photos of diamonds.
Use the macro (flower) captions on camera and you can capture diamond photos better.
Better to take diamond photos on a day time where there is sunlight..

Does the dimension of both diamonds differs alot?

A) The HCA Score for it is 3.1 (Very good - Worth buying if price is right)
Score 'very good' in all aspect such as 'Light Return', 'Fire', 'Scintillation' and 'Spread'.

But because you are looking at branded Tiffany (I don't think the price would be worth it no matter how much it cost). Sorry as I am not a big fan of branded diamonds since they are all gonna be grade by same gemology institute like GIA.

B) The HCA Score is 1.7 (Excellent - Within TIC range)
Score 'Excellent' in 'Light Return', 'Fire', 'Scintillation' and has a Very Good Spread.

IMO, B is a better diamond as without viewing the diamond IRL, I relies heavily on the HCA score to eliminate diamonds. The HCA is a good rejection tools. And my diamond really sparkles like mad with a Excellent HCA score and has Excellent 'Light Return', 'Fire', 'Scintillation' with a Very Good Spread too..

You could view here to take a look at mine:

HCA Note:
A score below 2 (Excellent) means you have eliminated known poor performers (more than 95% of all diamonds). Your own personal preference may be for a diamond with an HCA score of 1.5 more rather than one with a lower score of say 0.5.

Hope it helps

Can you start a different thread? Id be glad to help you but you really need to start a separate thread.

Hi, glad I have found this thread. I need your advice, esp. ame, about the diamond I intends to set in my ring. My DH gave me 0.7ct E/VVS1/ triple EX heart & arrow with GIA cert as my annniversary gift. It's priced $4.900. I love the H&A but not sure is it worth that much? Tks a lot
