Well, it is not my idea about uniform -its D&B themselves. Look at their University line or MLB line. They are soooo recognizable I can spot duck bag from any distance. My reaction is similar to Austin Power's in Goldmemeber-Mooole, Moooooooole, Molymolymolymoly! Just I say-duuuuck, duckduckduck, duckyduckyducky..... Can't help it, sorry.
Its a shame, because speaking of craftsmanship dooney does know how to construct a good quality bag.

The college line is hideous but college is time to be hideous. But the MLB line is just a fashion travesty. I am so not a fan of Dooney, the duck, the colors, the outlets and rampant clearance sales. The craftsmanship is fine, but the aesthetics do nothing for me.

Not a fan of Prada. I had an awful tiny bag many years ago when the nylon was the craze. I liked the leathers but the quality seems to have declined. DH and I stopped buying the shoes - used to I loved them, but so many are now made in China and the label is often hidden.

Very unlikely, but would not turn down a deal/gift of a Louboutin bag. The little sweet charity bags are fun, but for $2000, I would have to buy something else. And I judge by shoes - not what they used to be. And then that takes me Jimmy Choo. I cannot see myself ever buying a Jimmy Choo bag. Again, I would not turn down a gift, especially a darling little clutch. Unlike the prior brand, the shoes are still amazing :)

Good post Phoebe!
Nothing wrong with buying MK or Coach bags!
The shrink part is a very good one![emoji23][emoji23]
I am not sure that a Prada bag manufacturing cost is very different from a Coach.....
When you buy a high end bag, you must know that you pay for
- high boutique rents on posh avenues
- advertising in Vogue and other fashion magazines
- top models pay
- brand margin etc...
And, last but not least...
If I buy a pair of Levi's let's say for €80, the shop gets 40!
If I buy a high end item for € 2000, the boutique gets ..... €1300.

Knowing about all that, you can calculate the real cost of luxury goods!
Then it's up to you to buy or not buy.....[emoji6][emoji6]

This girl s a very good point about a he total cost of a luxury bag or any item. A lot if me bey goes into marketing and advertising campaigns not to mention rent.

Thank you for pointing this out.

I love the duck!!!!! Lol. But I also really like ducks. Lol. [emoji6]

For me-

Bottega Veneta: I understand that it is great quality and I understand Tomas Meier is a genius and that it is well made...I just have never warmed to the aesthetic. I feel the zipper pulls look cheap and, at BV price points, the items could look more distinctive. The neutral colored items, in particular, look very meh to me.

Balenciaga: I like the clothes but the bags are just not my aesthetic. Too much detailing/hardware/activity on a bag for me, though I can see them fitting beautifully with other personalities.

My biggest regret shopping-wise is having bought a Balenciaga purse. Just thinking about it still makes me angry at myself. Horrible impulse purchase at a different country so I couldn't return.

That's one of my regrets too. I often think how much I paid for it and I was trying to sell it for 1/4 of what I paid (hardly used) but got absolutely zero interest.
Seems they aren't all that popular to resell.

Bags I will never buy:

Most LV: except for their wallets which I think are great, and the speedy which is a classic.

Hermes: I love the Constance and the Kelly. But the idea of having to beg a brand to buy an item is a turn off. I worked hard in my career to be able to afford any bag I want...I just want to go into a store and buy it and not feel I need to buy into some weird lifestyle or brand, or feel honoured I have been selected to own a bag.

Chanel: Way too many out there. I own several, which I just cannot wear anymore. It used to be a luxurious brand, and now I see too many people barely able to pay their rent, or afford their car, but are carrying a big jumbo Chanel bag.

I am sorry if I offended anyone with my comments, just how I feel

FWIW, I have a Stella McCartney Falabella and love it! I don't believe a bag needs to be made from leather, fur or exotics to be a premium bag. Quality, style and that "cache" can be found with non-leather/fur/exotic bags as well. Heck, LV is famous for the quality and craftsmanship of their coated canvas bags (granted, most have leather trim). :smile1:

I bought my first Stella bag (Falabella phone bag) at Nordstrom's Half-Yearly sale and I love it to bits. The bag is definitely well made and beautiful. My only issue (albeit a minor one) is that the bag can get dirty very easily. I still love it, though. Maybe someday, I'll own her Falabella totes, preferably the tote with the star design on the front and fringes on the bottom. I'm definitely a Stella fan now.

Funny how tastes are different. Both are two brands I swore will only buy from now on.

Totally agree on both points! +1
