Designer Brands You Will Never Buy

Bottega Veneta: Love the soft quality of their leather but find it incredibly hard to maintain. Plus their bags are too slouchy for my liking.

MCM: Bought the space-themed one because I liked the photo of galaxy in the background but couldn't get over the gaudy logos. Found it overpriced for a canvas bag that's heavy with so-so quality, and in my opinion, overrated. Now it just sat in my closet gathering dust. Never again!:p

Other than that, logo bags and slouchy bags in general.:smile1:

Bottega Veneta, too slouchy for most pieces but I do like the cabat although I find it very heavy

Ferragamo, it was the brand for office ladies when I first started working. I just have negative associations with this brand because it reminded me of the hours of overtime, bad bosses and being underpaid.

Goyard, Valextra, Balenciaga, Chanel bags. I think they look really good but something is off when I carry their bags and I cannot make them work for me.

I do like the clothes from Chanel though and oddly enough I love Hermes bags but not the clothes because they don't fit me well and I look so dowdy.

Maybe in 10 years as I age and my tastes change but not at the present moment.

balenciaga is probably the only brand i would never buy from, i'm just not a fan of that style (i could see how some would like them), i like more structured classic styled bags and the bal bags look pretty slouchy and also occasionally like the faux leather bags at target. No hate on target i just wouldn't buy an expensive bag that looks like it's from there.

Louis vuitton monograms and damier - i think these are the most classic looking monograms but i still am not a fan. I like the non monogrammed from louis vuitton, i just wished they used a smooth leather instead of the epi leather all the time, i've only found one bag that the epi really fits it.

gucci is my favorite premier designer, i think they have very unique but still classic designs if you avoid the monograms and over branded bags. But i hate guccis monogram... It looks old? I don't know how to explain, same with coach. They look dated. Poor color choice.

chanel - i've only seen a real chanel once- at an upscale antique store. It looked very beautiful in the display case but i still didn't understand the appeal. Chains are very busy, cc clasp is a little too flashy, the quilted leather looks a bit like a tire. I think one thing is that they rarely photography well, so they tend to look cheaper in pictures.

goyard - way too busy, look cheap.

Some hermes look classic but some look incredibly gaudy.

I wouldn't buy any new exotics either (from any brand), the process for getting these leathers is incredibly cruel. Hermes alligators are only knocked unconscious when they are skinned. Normal cowhide is linked to the meat industry so it's not terrible to buy that new, in my opinion, as they are also being killed for meat, not just a handbag.

I have the same problem! As much as I want to buy Hermes RTW, 9 out of 10 times they look odd on me.

...
Bottega Veneta - gorgeous bags, but from what's being said about the quality, I don't want to risk it.

What is wrong with the quality of Bottega? I've never heard anything bad about their bags. :o

I'm a HUGE fan of BV and you'll probably expect me to defend the brand. but it's definitely not for everyone. I definitely see your points and when people are considering BV for the first time I often warn them about the brand. Namely:

In terms of quality, what I see more than anything is for the very high price point, a missed stitch or glue blob is not acceptable. And I agree! I've also read that some colors result in the leather not being as soft because of the amount of dye needed to saturate the leather.
Nappa leather can be very soft and you'll see corner wear pretty quick. Some colors hide it better than others.
If you're used to structure, BV may not be for you. Just about all their bags develop a slouch over time. And that's definitely not for everyone.

I quite like their clutches. My challenge with them had more to do with the regular handbags. At one point I had a bag in a non-black color and in spite of my being very careful with the bag and rarely using it, the corner of the cross-stitched leather start to curl pretty quickly and the edges also tend to get dirty easily. After a while I just thought it was too much "work" for me.:p

Less so of a specific brand issue with me. More about the actual design of a bag. An affordable bag can be beautiful and timeless and an expensive bag can be hideous. Can't stand logo printed bags, I am not paying to advertise for you, also just tacky imo in general and hard to wear with a lot of things. MCM bags with the print all over are ugly, but then they came out with the milla which is a beautiful bag at a more affordable price point. Cant stand a whole bunch of metal on a bag-->chains, locks, all of that kind of stuff just makes the bag look so tacky imo, this is why i actually don't like a lot of MMK bags, however i adore my chloe hudson which has tons of metal on it. It's moreso about the overall look of the bag and whether or not it works, not a specific brand. That said, no print, no bright colors, no ostentatious logos and minimal metal. Also, bags without structure drive me crazy. If you can't sit up on your own, you don't belong at the table lol.

Michael Kors, because he just blandly copies other designers.

Miu Miu, I used to love their bags when I was younger but now I find them a bit cheap looking.

Dior, I have not seen a bag that I like yet, screams old lady to me.

Mulberry, I once owned an Alexa Clutch but ended up never carrying it, so I sold it. Doesn't really go with my style.

Bottega Veneta, some people pull off their handbags really nice, again not for me.

Stella McCartney, I just don't get it. Spending that much money on a "vegan leather" (plastic) handbag. No.

Moschino - tacky.
