Tory burch revas - I had a pair that lasted a minute. The bags are tacky - She's a hack - revas were designed by Vince Camuto yet people buy them like they are gold - same people who think Michael kors is nobody - he made Celine what it is. The clothes were never better than when he headed the house. Philo is just a product of what he did and her bags are so bland. Add Celine. And Judith Lieber- just beyond me

I don't really understand the strong dislike for Michael Kors from some members here. Michael Kors Collection is very different than MMK. Love the outfits he designed for Rene Russo in The Thomas Crown Affair.

I would never buy D&G and Balenciaga because they are not my style.

Never say never I guess ;)

Yes! I'm having to eat my words on a few brands. I think I "know" them and then I see someone with a little known version and I'm stopped in my tracks admiring it.

I said I'd NEVER buy Dooney & Bourke and then fell in love with bags from a couple of their lines (Florentine and Alto) I actually squealed when I got an Alto from D&B and yawned when I got a Chanel the same week that I returned. I thought I needed a brain transplant but then I just smacked myself and reminded me, it's about the bag...not the brand.

Exactly! I have few pieces of clothing from the collection line - all made in Italy and beautiful and a Miranda tote. Having a more attainable line does not diminish the collection lines. Burberry has many levels, as do Ralph Lauren and Valentino has the Red line. Most people simply do not have the lifestyle nor the body for higher fashion pieces, myself included. I once purchased a Ralph Lauren black label top. I had to get a large even though I was wearing a small in "normal clothes."

I have a few on my list:
Michael Kors (both MMK - bad proportions and tacky logos - and his high end line - just not my style)
Dooney
Vera Bradley (really not a fan of the designs, the patterns, the materials)
New school Rebecca Minkoff (really loved her original MAB and MAC clutch, but her recent stuff seems to be replicas)
Logo-heavy bags (i.e. love LV leather bags, but won't buy the logo coated-canvas bags)

I do see Michael Kors (both lines) copying other brands very closely but that's not necessarily why I won't buy it. The bags just don't look good. I've seen dozens and dozens of MK bags (especially the totes) where I live and I just can't find anything about it I would like. It's not minimalist chic like Celine (which ironically, Kors used to design for) but it looks like it's trying to be.

Still very wary about buying European brands "Made in China" though.

Haha I love this thread! I have a lot of brands on my no-buy list now. I used to think quantity was better than quality and bought all these not-so-good bags. But now I know it's better to wait lol! Ok so here goes
Coach
MCM (my mom hates this brand with a fiery passion)
Michael Kors
Most of LV (except their keepalls and I do have my mom's speedy which I might return to her)
I think I'm just saving up to buy Chanel and Celine now, bcos I think they're a good investment. And of course, Hermes
