No, a handbag won't save you or feed you and that is not what I implied or said. Perhaps I should have said to me it is a bit of an artistic expression or my personal taste and it makes me feel good about the way I am dressed. In thinking over your comment "NOTHING WOULD SAVE YOU", I think perhaps you need to not pass judgement on people you don't know. I have spent my life trying to be the best I can be and I will leave it up to God to pass judgment.

And I do think it can encourage me to do better in whatever I'm doing because it can be motivation to get more of what I want by working hard for it. I think of my purchases as goals that I set up for myself and I plan out future purchases like that as well. Birkin after finishing masters (hopefully) and a Rolex after (hopefully) a getting a PhD.

I think handbags just mean different things for everyone.

I agree Yoshi. Just because I spend money on bags doesn't mean I don't contribute to charities and those who need it. It has been my way to occasionally award myself for certain accomplishments and I work hard to pay for them.

I agree!! I had never given them a thought until just this past week and have been so impressed with how well made they are, and the fact that they're (most of them) made in Italy and reasonably priced is even better!

Unfortunately what is not understood is no one is trying to make fun of homeless people ... Just rectifying the ideology (I.e., degrading attitudes) that parallels the example of "even bums carry MK" .. if that is not clearly understood what feels like an ongoing sense of disrespect continues... I see that as my cue to call it quits on tPF. An unfortunate outcome to an experience I used to enjoy.

TPF is a wonderful place. Of course there could be some misunderstandings or disagreements, exactly like IRL, but there are also lovely people here....😘

Please don't go! You're one of then thoughtful, kind people that makes me want to come here in spite of the classist nastiness and scary expressions of materialism I see from others.

Thanks for all of the kind words! I think for the time being, I'll enjoy my time with the other members I have come to enjoy so much in a few of my favorite subforums...

I also greatly enjoy shopping from my own collection so perhaps that thread in the main forum too!

Minkette, I understood your analogy perfectly. Unfortunately, rapier like wit is rarely appreciated in these days of earnest hypersensitivity. As the old saying goes, "Never duel with an unarmed opponent. You'll only get blood on your shoes."
