PGhandbag --
I agree. I try to stay away from logo'ed bags, which is why I resist getting anything from Louis (well, that, and I really resent the fact of paying that much $ for lacquered plastic, essentially, no matter HOW well made) -- I mean, if I spend THAT much $, I sholdn't have to also be a walking advertisement for the brand too! I'd rather spend that $ on a well constructed buttery piece of napa! *grin*
But my bag closet is not completely logo-less. I agree with the "design" argument you made. I have a few pieces from
Fendi in which the monogram is less of a proclamation of money and more a part of the design or statement. I adore the palazzo speedy. I have a logo'ed Ostrik bag (in the muted red) from seasons ago because I thought the shape was so interesting. And I have a logo'ed envelope bag and a hobo style bag that is classic
Fendi logo'ed with the crystaled hibiscus flower, with bright-colored leather trimming -- I think the combination is stunning and the logos just kinda recede into the background.
I was very tempted to pick up the grafitti bag from Louis, but I hate that even the grafitti is Louis' name -- just kinda made it a bit too obnoxious in the loud proclamation for my taste. But I always admire it when someone walks past with it. *shrug*
I like it, it's just not for me.
