@l.ch.
I do not have the Vancouver, but I do have the Manhattan and the Oslo. The Manhattan is no longer made - it's like the Oxford but without the pocket. The Manhattan is a great, sturdy little travel crossbody, and it survived an unexpected torrential downpour (without an umbrella!) beautifully. I like the Oslo very much, but I will say that the mock croc, while light and sturdy, does not feel quite as luxurious as the Manhattan in grained leather. I also think the edges are a bit sloppy. However, the shape is lovely, and I wear this bag quite a bit.

If you're thinking of the Celine classic box bag, there is another under-the-radar brand called RSVP Paris that I recommend. I learned about them on this forum. I bought their navy box bag in box leather, and the leather is super luscious. They also have bigger sizes that may be more comparable to the Celine classic.

thanks a lot! For your reviews and the suggestion for RSVP Paris, never heard of them, but I googled it and the bags look beautiful!

Hey guys, I took the plunge and ordered a vancouver bag in the cognac smooth leather during black friday. It arrived today and I am really glad because it is as gorgeous as pictured on the website! The color is vibrant and the leather is very nice, smooth with a subtle sheen. Stitching and finishing touches seem well made. The lining is in cotton and is not very soft to the touch, however it looks robust enough.
Hardware is luxurious and sturdy, very polished and shiny without being too in your face.
It is very comfortable when worn and you can fit what you would expect at this size: all essentials and then a few extras like snacks or a small book.
One thing that I would say is that the clasp is very difficult to close when the bag is empty, but once it is full it is very easy (it’s best that way of course but something to consider if you carry very little with you!).
I compared the leather to the one on my Celine bags (I have the nano belt and the small big bag) and of course it is not as luxurious: it is thinner, not as soft and supple. But it is still a very nice leather, and the quality difference is not proportionnate at all to the price difference!
All in all, I think it is a great bag, and good value for money.
I’ll see how it wears out in the next couple of weeks and post again if I notice something else.

Thank you for the review. I look forward to seeing your photos. I hope you post some so we can get a sense of what the bag looks like in real life (as opposed to model life).

I am curious what people think of the hardware of their bags? I just received the Oxford in the black croc leather, and while I love the style and everything about the bag, I can't get over how cheap the hardware feels. It doesn't seem like it will wear nicely overtime. Has anyone had a bag from them long enough, that can speak to the wear of the metal harware?

my bag is around 10 years old, if I renember correctly. It was purchased preloved. The hardware still looks new. This was before their change of name, though. I don’t know if they have changed it since then.

Sure, here are a few photos I took yesterday evening before going out for you guys. Lighting is not great but hopefully it gives you an idea!
I’m 165 cm high for reference.
Would you be able to post pictures of this bag in better lighting? I might buy it but I'm having a hard time telling the difference between the camel and the cognac. Also, how has the bag held up? Do you still like it?

Hi,

I’m looking to purchase this bag in the camel smooth leather!! Are you able to tell me how it has worn - any scratches/damage etc! I have 3 young children so Iwon’t be able to ‘baby it’. Also was the leather quite stiff to begin with/what was the leather like (I’ve seen the croc version in real life and it’s very stiff/hard leather but I can only purchase the smooth leather online)??
and if it was stiff - has it softened over time??
would you still recommend the bag??
Any current photos of the condition??
Does it suit a casual jeans/sneaker look or is it more dressy??

thanks so much!!

Does anyone currently have the Midi size of the Venice?
I've seen a few reviews of the Mini version and I can tell it's too small for me. Would be interested to hear if getting things in and out of the Midi size is a challenge or not...
I would be curious to see a comparison between the Mini and Midi sizes of the Venice as well. So far I get the impression the Midi would be more practical, but the Mini would probably be more flattering. Mod shots would be very helpful!

My mum purchased a mini Venice when we were in London at the showroom last year. For her it is a bit small (she carries EVERYTHING but the kitchen sink) however I think it is a decent sized bag. The best comparison I can think of is the Rebecca Minkoff Vanity saddle bag (mini size). For me, it is a size that works provided you don't carry a full size wallet as the opening narrows. i would compare the Midi size of the Venice to the Rebecca Minkoff Vanity in its regular size. (I'm offering this comparison in that it MAY be easier to see that bag on different frames). Again just bear in mind as it is a saddle bag the opening will narrow a bit vs. the bottom of the bag
I own a snake print version of the nano Venice and I can say even with the essentials it can be hard to finagle items in and out quickly because of the small opening. I do have photos of my nano floating around here on TPF
Hope that helps!

Hi! I own the Vancouver in the quilted black leather and I also own a Berlin in pebbled forest leather. I think DeMellier has great leathers, however I will caution that the hardware is VERY easy to scratch. I've managed to booger up the hardware on both bags with very little effort (i should have put a protector on ASAP). Anyway, that being said, the Vancouver is probably my favorite DeMellier bag. Sleek, classic - works with everything. True to my handle name I have a very punky style and I think it looks chic worn with ripped jeans as it does with trousers or a pencil skirt and a blouse. It reminds me alot of the Celine Box bag. Classic enough to work with ANYTHING and you can personalize by adding a scarf or two if you wish.
I do own a card case in the croc leather and I do find it very stiff. When I was in the showroom in London last year they had a Berlin mock up with croc leather. I could tell it had been handled quite a bit as it had softened (compared to how my card holder feels). I LOVE the look of crocodile embossed leather but I do understand it will feel "stiff" especially on a more structured bag. Pebbled leather would be the most carefree and soft/smooth leather you will need to be a bit more cautious with.
Hope that helped!

thanks so much!!
