Yeah, the darn tomatoes have kept me from even glancing at eBay, shelbs. I'm depending on you and LGA to email me with anything you think I can't live without!

Speaking of eBay, and since so many of us seem to be scouting it these days for scarves, I'd hate to think that we'd be bidding against each other and driving the prices up. Furbies should stick together, right?

If anyone is interested, we might think about listing the auction we're tracking and calling "dibs."

I really LOVE this idea, lily.

Of course, we'd be on the honor system, but I think it could work. If anyone wants to try it, just do so, and we'll see how it shakes out.

I'm not looking at anything right now - all I see are TOMATOES!

I just read back about your tomato adventure - YUM. Now that's smart. So you go through the whole canning process with this? (add to the list of things to learn to do).

quick pop in to say hi to all and

Major CONGRATS to you, Tillie - you hit the motherload with your consignment finds - love the Kachinas and the Girouettes (and did you get Emperons also?) You will have so much fun finding special silks, and finding so many fun ways to wear them (and IIFC, you are slender so can pull off the scarf top with ease - lucky, not everyone can).

Just wait til you try on the jerseys......oh oh.... :graucho:

(hey, I gotta enable a bit here too - these silks were my doorway into Hermes and I'm into the 300s now - but even with that amount, the process of hunting, finding, and acquiring each scarf has brought such great joy.)

SO GO TILLIE - WHOOO HOOOOO! You will never have so much fun! :yahoo:

Les Cles is such a classic, gorgeous, all time favorite - I got mine (it was brand new for that season, in red and pinks) from a french reseller with a very long name who is a sweetheart. I may be wrong, but I seem to recall in the research that the center piece is what the rouloutesses (sp?) use to hold their needles while they hem the scarves - like a big pin cushion.

so way to GO Tillie - very excited for you!

Whoa, Katel - in the 300's? Holy cow, you and VickyB, our scarf queens! LGA, this gives you something to aspire to, although you aren't that far behind . . )

I think you're right about the pouch in the center of Les Cles, too. I wasn't sure what it had been intended for, only that it's in the museum at FSH. I really do want to get to that museum someday, as wouldn't it be lovely to see the inspiration for so many of Hermes' scarves and objects.

300? Sigh . .

Oh, yeah, Katel, the whole process from start to finish, including the final hot water bath. It's such a lovely job in hot weather, and while the first batch is kind of fun, the eight or ninth is definitely NOT.

Wish I could send all the sisters a jar, though, as it's really fabulously tasty stuff. The recipe dates back to the 1800's, so I trully feel like I'm carrying on a family tradition too, which is a nice feeling.

But look on the bright side. Free facial with every batch canned... :D

I'm just surprised that I have any skin left on my hands after peeling and hand sqeezing 60 lbs. of the things.

There's a lot of acid in tomatoes, though, so I guess I should inspect the hands to see if they look younger after the "tomato beauty treatment." Heck, I might be on to something here!

Lily, sounds like you're in licopene hell!!!! I adore tomatoes, but don't wish to be buried in them! You must feel like those who work in a candy shop, which abruptly puts an end to one's desire to eat candy (now there's an idea for me!!)

Pugs..... WE MISSED YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

KATEL....OVER 300??!?!? You've been hiding that little secret from us....from no on, we'll definitely be turning to you for scarf tips too!

Irish... I read that Murphy came in soaking wet yesterday, while Twinkie was dry...what was that all about???!!

Pamella, Les Cles was my first favorite design. Last year I got it in the most devine periwinkle blue 90cm cashmere scarf, and wore it practically every day all winter...got it at Bergdorf's in NY. Is yours the same blue, or is it a navy?

Tillie, what can I say, other than "you're in deep deep trouble" now! Prepare yourself for an obsessive journey through silks/cashmeres/mousselines/cottons, etc. that knows no bounds!

:roflmfao: Brilliant! Let us know if it works... LOL, I can see the headlines now... "shortage of heritage tomatoes... fellow furbie finds fountain of youth!"

Pugs Welcome back, we missed you! Oh 4 days without a crackberry, awful!

Tille I am going to get one of those silver rings that you wear around your neck,
with a pendant, because you can tie your scarf on it to wear it as a top and it looks
so cute. Katel was right, wait till you see the "jerseys"!! They make a gorgeously draped
top!
