Hello everyone!

Goodness, I haven’t been on PurseForum in a long time.

Life is life—constantly changing, evolving, challenging, stretching, growing

We did actually buy the new house! It was in good shape, having had new kitchen, bathrooms, landscaping etc done in the past few years, but there was some things we wanted to do ourselves before moving in, in terms of decorating, lighting, some plumbing and electrical upgrades, wood flooring throughout the house and selected bits of joinery for fitted furniture, so we spent a few months before moving in getting it all done!!

Baby Dawn started reception (early years at school) in September, 4 years old now, and then Mr Dawn broke his foot while we were still in the middle of all the learning to deal with school run, having busy jobs, and then managing the house buying-renovating-moving project! Madness.

We haven’t sold our old house yet, so we’ve been lucky to be able to do work on new house before moving in, but of course when you move in you find new things that you’d like to change and improve, so it will be a long project (I think a home is always a lifelong project!)

It is a beautiful house, and we love it in many ways. We also loved our old house though, which we’d lived in for 11 years so it’s taking a while to stop missing the old house and old life!

The new house is a 1990s build (compared to our previous 1930s build—I loved the higher ceilings and more solid build in the old house more than modern builds!) On the other hand, this house is large and we really needed the space, a 10 minute walk through green areas for my daughter’s school, great for the tube (tube=London Underground trains), and the commute to work for both of us is short. This new house also has a wraparound garden with ancient trees and the sound of birdsong everywhere, which I love. So I’m reminding myself that no one likes change, but some change is good when you settle into it!

Most attractive is that this house is modern and has a dream layout—I call it a Cluedo house because it’s got so much space and so many spaces! You can imagine Colonel Mustard in the study, Miss Scarlett in the dining room etc  Mr Dawn and I each have a study, a separate dining and living room, we have a gym room with a window seat, a huge playroom, a guest room, a utility room and even a small coatroom! In London! Feels unbelievable.

And yet I miss the old house which was smaller but perfectly built and rebuilt by us when we moved in, to be “ours”!

I hope that we feel settled soon. It’s been less than a month since we moved in so it’s early days.

Happy New Year Miss Dawn :). So nice to see your update. Congratulations on moving into your new house — it sounds wonderful to have the extra space and added convenience of being close to work. It’s understandable though that you were sad to leave your old house behind. Sorry to hear about Mr Dawn’s broken foot — hope he is well and back on his feet by now :). How exciting that Baby Dawn is already in pre-school. She must be getting so big.

Thanks for the photo collage. So much pretties there — from your house to your Christmas tree to the beautiful presents. I love the island counter in your kitchen (so nice to have for entertaining or just plain everyday living). Am glad that you and Mr Dawn found a little time in the midst of all the move/remodeling to stop at Chanel/Dior/Van Cleef for some holiday goodies for you .

Take care and please come back soon to see us :)

Thank you, my dear Iam

I hope you are well xx

The funny thing is that with moving and seeing all your stuff (stuff stuff everywhere!), I’m feeling so much more careful about decluttering, and consciously buying things to replace, or in line with a specific need, rather than just buying because I like it (I like too many things )

All of my bags are currently in storage, until we’ve set up the house properly—bag wardrobe is not a priority for setting up immediately after a move  So pretty much the only bag I’ve been using for the past few months is my Chanel tote

To bring this thread back to bags, here is a picture of my bag travelling around in a train recently :biggrin:IMG_4843.jpeg

Fourth, we had our first family holiday in nearly a year (which is a long time given how demanding our jobs are!) because between my daughter starting school in the autumn and moving house over Christmas, we had just spent all our holidays on home-work and childcare! We went to Portugal which is our undemanding happy place, and it was really needed. I felt more burned out than I have ever experienced by that point, but 2 weeks off were restorative and I’ve felt much better since! IMG_7399.webp

Hello Miss Dawn! Good to hear from you again. And what delightful eye candies you're showing us today! Congratulations on your new house and your handbag wardrobe is simply gorgeous!!!
I bet your Baby Dawn(not so baby anymore) is super cute!!!
Hello!! So good to hear from you :hbeat: I hope you and your talented daughters are all well and that your bags are sufficiently small and pink to delight your (and everyone’s!) hearts

Fifth, I’ve saved the best for last…

I was just promoted  I’m already a Partner in my organisation, and those who have been reading this thread for a while might recall that I bought a pink iridescent Chanel WOC to celebrate making Partner in 2019.

A week ago, I was promoted to a new tier of the Partnership, which is the pre-Board stage. It’s very hard to get to because it’s the transition phase from being a regular partner to being on the Board. All going well, this is the commitment from the current Board that I will join the Board over the next 2-3 years.

The journey through this phase was incredibly challenging and I’ve been working with a business coach on a lot of personal and emotional development over the past few years so at this stage I feel heavy and bowed down by it all—the weight of how much more I have to grow and change, to be as effective in leadership as I can be, and of joining the team to manage a company through significant growth and change.

I don’t feel particularly light or self-congratulatory, but I will do my best, which is all I can do. Between doing my masters part-time between 2021-23, and Baby Dawn only being 4, it’s just been a lot to keep the show on the road and I’m just grateful to still feel (reasonably) sane and whole at this point :love:

To mark the occasion, I bought a classic black WOC from Chanel. It has been on my wishlist for a while without any urgency, but then I found out that this model is being discontinued as it’s being replaced with the one with the CC turnlock…! IMG_7385.webpIMG_7390.webpIMG_7387.webpMr Dawn wasn’t able to find one for me anywhere in Paris this week when he was there for work. But my SA at Selfridges found one, so it is mine :hbeat:

And sixth, because I guess that wasn’t last after all, I also have some eye candy from the LV Murakami collection, that I’d bought a few months ago and not unboxed! I just haven’t had time, so I finally opened it this weekend. I was working all weekend (which is rare for me, I usually manage to not work on weekends!) and I opened all my goodies as a break in between swotting for a difficult assignment next week. I’m giving evidence as an industry expert in a court case, which is something I don’t have much experience in, so that’s taken a lot of energy and it was a pleasure to take a break and open my lovely new things as light relief in between a lot of work!

Pictures attached of my new cosmetic pouch and pencil case (as you know, I love pens!)

I love the multicolour print and the hot pink lining, so pretty! IMG_7374.webpIMG_7377.webpIMG_7382.webpIMG_7376.webp
