And another BIG congrats to all your accomplishments! It must have been very challenging for you to work on your masters, along with not so Baby Dawn growing up, on top of climbing the corporate ladder! It's wonderful to know that you are not just hanging in there, but thriving!!!
I don't know how you do it Miss Dawn!!! I'm so glad I've gotten to know such a strong woman on tPF! I admire you wholeheartedly, and wish you all the best, always!

I was just promoted :love: I’m already a Partner in my organisation, and those who have been reading this thread for a while might recall that I bought a pink iridescent Chanel WOC to celebrate making Partner in 2019.

A week ago, I was promoted to a new tier of the Partnership, which is the pre-Board stage. It’s very hard to get to because it’s the transition phase from being a regular partner to being on the Board. All going well, this is the commitment from the current Board that I will join the Board over the next 2-3 years.

The journey through this phase was incredibly challenging and I’ve been working with a business coach on a lot of personal and emotional development over the past few years so at this stage I feel heavy and bowed down by it all—the weight of how much more I have to grow and change, to be as effective in leadership as I can be, and of joining the team to manage a company through significant growth and change.

I don’t feel particularly light or self-congratulatory, but I will do my best, which is all I can do. Between doing my masters part-time between 2021-23, and Baby Dawn only being 4, it’s just been a lot to keep the show on the road and I’m just grateful to still feel (reasonably) sane and whole at this point :blush::love:

To mark the occasion, I bought a classic black WOC from Chanel. It has been on my wishlist for a while without any urgency, but then I found out that this model is being discontinued as it’s being replaced with the one with the CC turnlock…! Hello, hello, hello :wave:. Good to see your update, Miss Dawn. Glad you and your family are keeping busy and doing well. BIG CONGRATS to yet another promotion :tup:. You are so talented and work so incredibly hard — you deserve this my friend :).

What a lovely haul of goodies! How is it possible that you didn’t already own a black caviar WOC till now? I thought you already owned it and all the quintessential classic black caviar pieces. And I am quite envious of your LV/TM pieces — I spent (too) many hours/days stalking the website on launch dates and months after but could not get any of my wishlist items. Oh well, not meant to be for me. Enjoy all your pretty newbies :).

Miss seeing your collages — thanks for sharing the pics from Portugal! Looks like you all had a wonderful trip.

Baby Dawn will always be Baby Dawn to me :) :lol: but I am open to calling her Mini Dawn from now on.

Most of the credit for my work life balance goes to Mr Dawn. I was asked how I will balance my time across all my work commitments at my promotion panel and everyone laughed at me when I said that the only way I’ve ever found of having a balance is by taking on too much, realising it’s too much and course-correcting. I’m good at course correcting and I have a lot of unconditional love and support in identifying the misbalances and fixing them; Mr Dawn is the best :love:

Plus the older I get the more I realise that I’m very values driven (which often drives my peers, my business coach and my mentor—up the wall!) I see leadership as service, and I derive purpose from that.

So I don’t think I’ll ever be one of those people who is deterred by the cautionary tale that no one lies on their death bed thinking “gee, I wish I’d worked more”. I accept my ambition, I accept that I’ll always be striving for balance, I accept that my daughter will at times understand that and be inspired by it (as I was by my own mother!) and at other times she’ll just want her mum at home—but life is long, there is time to honour all my roles :love:

I know, I had always meant to get the black caviar WOC, but I hadn’t! Glad I found out in time that it was being discontinued to acquire one as I really wanted the simple magnetic closure rather than the working turnlock

The trip to Portugal was so restorative, I’ve never felt so burned out. But now I’m in court giving evidence (first day done, it went great!) so I will probably need another holiday soon…

Mini Dawn works well :biggrin: she is definitely her own little person though and not much like her mama. She’s prettier and much more popular than I ever was! (Plus she’s an extrovert and I’m not—God it’s exhausting to parent an extrovert :lol: :heart:)

Now to decompress and destress (one of my colleagues said “now you can decompose :giggle:). Next month is a big month, lots of short business trips and post-trial life to catch up on!

I just unboxed this lovely pen. I already have the Montblanc Jane Austen fountain pen from my birthday last year, and I decided to get the ball pen as a treat for getting through this period :love:IMG_7429.webpIMG_7427.webpIMG_7428.webp

Two further purchases! I have a few business trips coming up this month, and I’ve added 2 items to my travel wardrobe. Yet another Anya Hindmarch SLG, this time a medicines pouch. And a smart black Tumi tote. I do travel quite a lot with my Louis Vuitton briefcase, but I find it challenging to not have a luggage strap on it, to attach to my carry on trolley. So I’ve got this Tumi with the luggage strap and I think I’ll use it a lot!

Not super exciting purchases, but it all adds up to a wardrobe that balances form and function (I pick form every time, so clearly about time I thought of function :lol:)IMG_7456.webp
