Date Code & "Made In" Questions

Hi, just a quick question about a date code in Mahina L. Bought it in 2012 but the datecode is on the leather tab inside the pocket. So it is not stamped. Is it correct or fake? Thanks

LV does change date code locations

Authentication link is in my siggy

I searched and wasn't able to find an answer so hopefully I can borrow some LV expertise here. I am interested in a Galliera but the seller says there is no date code. I sent her pictures of whereit should be on the inside pocket or on a tab, but she says the bag has no marking. She also has supposedly the original receipt. Did LVs stop putting date codes in the Galliera's at some point?

I recently sold a Galliera Azur and there was a date code. It was hard to find because it is in the fabric. Here is a picture of mine. Made in 09. Sorry I cannot remember where I found it. I think I asked here because I could not find it, and people directed me properly.

Oh ok thanks. Yea, I am hoping my seller has a "hiding" date code and just can't find it like you, instead of just no date code. I guess I am just going to try having the bag authenticated if possible without the code.

What I had to do on a wallet I sold was to guarantee the date code was there even if I could not get a picture of it. I could read it, but couldn't get the camera lens into the slot. At least I knew what it was though, and documented it in my listing.

You are in a different boat, you are the buyer. I think they will not authenticate here without the date code. Why don't you show the seller a few of the date code pictures on similar eBay items, and that might guide her as to where to find it, that is if she is willing. Sometimes they are very very hard to find.

The thing is I want a Galliera PM so I am tempted to continue pursuing this, but at this point I feel like I am trying too hard and should just give it up. I sent the seller a clear description to try to guide her, as well as a couple of different images one of which particularly showed the location. I asked her to double check the bag and she said "I could not find the date code so I called headquarters and was told that not all codes can be seen." In the end, I said to her that unless she can take the bag to a LV store and have them find the date code, that I am no longer interested. Her response was that "I have and this is what I was told. I would suggest you call headquarters and see what they say."

The seller seems adamant that "There aren't any marks on this purse". And if that's truly the case I won't be happy with it. I suppose there are other fish in the see. :shucks:

It is possible that what the seller says is true, because S/A's don't want to discuss date codes so they say anything to avoid talking about them.

But I seriously doubt LV stopped putting Date codes on the Galliera. I'd give it up. The bag will be around for resale for a while.

Yes, I thought about that (that she may be telling the truth). I feel like it could go either way and I don't like all the unknowns. I'm looking a newer bag, I know that if I am patient I will find one...with a date code, lol. Thanks for all your help.

The date code on the Galliera is one of the more difficult ones to find, and probably even more so for an unexperienced seller. Mine was said to be authentic by this forum and it is inside the buttoned pocket on the right side.(from 2008) That material is what makes it so hard to find/see. Like someone else said in another thread, buy the seller not the bag. I've been getting a ton of "what's a date code?" lately. and plenty of "I don't want to stretch out and ruin the bag" If I get any of that, I move on. There are PLENTY of preloved Gallieras out there. Just my opinion but I would probably never buy a preloved bag without a date code.
