Daria satchels- advice please

Hi All,I think I'm going to go for it and order the Daria hobo in black!!!But I have a quick question I know when worn on the shoulder it comes up very high to the armpit-does the bag still fit over winter coats? I know when I tried out the Effie satchel the shoulder strap would not fit over a winter coat so the longer strap would need to be used, so this put me off!
Any advice?!

my medium daria hobo can fit over my winter coat (and my leather jacket).

the short strap was one of the things I disliked about effie as I prefer shoulder bags to messengers.
