Laurel is phenomenal.
I tried working with another artist to get this bag as a custom:

Because I saw it in her gallery and loved it. I said I wanted it to be a smallish medium size and with a detachable strap and gold hardware. Well the process went off the rails and she wanted to nearly double the price of what was originally discussed was the cost of a custom bag, and she just acted miserable to be trying to accommodate my not so adventurous requests.
I told Laurel about this in the context of"boy do I appreciate you more than ever because every custom order with you is an absolute joy from start to finish and no one is miserable" and she was like, "I can do that bag easy, why don't you swap your dome bag order for that and I'll make it for you." I am shocked how sweet that is for her to care about my unrealized dream of a rectangular boxy satchel with studs and wanting to see it come true (I don't have as strong a burning need for the dome). So now I'm going to get the bag I've wanted for months but was just not working out with the other artist to make, and at about a third of the cost. I'm sure the other artist would argue that her techniques with passopile and burning the edges and leather lining, techniques she has learned from a Delvaux master, make it a totally different product and of course that could be true, but from my point of view in terms of enjoying a well made bag that will last just as long and look great and be made from just as nice leather and more importantly great customer service and fun to work with the maker, at a third of the price, the value is with Laurel. I don't need a leather lining to love a bag and I don't need the process to be exactly the same as the highest end designers to love the bag. My budget and my heart ([emoji173]️ love Laurel!) just fit with Laurel better as much as I appreciate what the other artist is trying to do and I do appreciate the highly polished end result.
I'll stick to buying instock from the other artist and doing customs with Laurel. (By the way lenie the caramel bag I just mailed to you is from the same maker I'm describing here, so you will see for yourself soon how lovely her work is and it is lovely, although the one you are getting is a simple unlined tote and not one that she uses all her techniques on.)

@lenie , how do Laurel’s leathers, quality, etc compare to MM and Arayla? While I ended up returning the Harlow for “not for me” fit reasons, I was impressed with their quality and how gorgeous leathers are. We all of course know how amazing Marco’s are - was just curious how you think it compares.
