Susa, like Suzi I agree that many/most matte leathers have natural markings and this adds to their charm but I can see why you are upset. I doubt that these will come out with moisturizing/conditioning/wear. I'm sure we all have varying expectations of 'normal' and it seems most agree these markings are too large to be usual/acceptable.

Yes , she has seen the photos, and she says that it is normal with matte leather
i do not agree with her, I agree that matte leather has natural marks, but not those light grey stripes all over it, the backside is perfect (with natural marks)
for me it is an issue, for Jackie it is not , I am disappointed after waiting 3,5 months for this couture bag
I use to have other bags in matte leather, like mulberry and also the wtm in tan, they aged perfectly without marks like this, but anyhow , this EM is brandnew, just arrived today

pic of the backside:

WOW!!!!! Jackie saw those pics and still felt it was normal without offering you a refund or exchange? I don't know what to say then except I"m sorry your having this experience.

Maybe the ladies here can offer their advice on how to make it look less noticeable? I know they usually have wonderful suggestions for these type issues and they're the one's I'd ask for help now. I know this sounds odd but after awhile I've become rather used to all my markings and scratches all over my bag. Obviously though I'd feel quite upset if it arrived that way and wasn't done by my own (gentle) wear.

Thanks for letting us know about your situation. It certainly does leave quite an impression overall on BE.

Suzi, I totally agree with you about BEC and the refund policy. It's a shame Jackie doesn't agree with all of us. I've never heard of a policy like this before with anyone I conduct purchases.

thanks for your opinion, I really appreciate very much all opinions about these "natural" marks, as I was unsure if it is only me being kind of peculiar and overreacting

especially when i read the posts of loveme, that it will get worse with wearing, i do not want to touch the bag , but storing a long awaited couture bag in the dustbag...........this does not make any sense at all :crybaby:

Hi Susa,

Please don't let my experience discourage you from wearing it and enjoying. To be honest, I"d do just that at this point. Since Jackie won't be reasonable in this matter I'd either wear it or try to sell and start all over again with a new handbag experience you'll LOVE.

I know sometimes it can be challenging to love a bag with this type of initial experience but it CAN be done if that's what you decide.

I wear my taupe wtm still with all it's markings ALL over it. If I ever posted my pic of this bag you'd be surprised. But I don't mind anymore. It's actually in some respect nice to have a bag that I truly NEVER worry about since it's already all marked everywhere. LOL

I'm sorry I don't mean to make light of this situation! I"m just trying to make you smile.:flowers:

thanks, but I do not like the bag with the white stripes, and if I do not like it, i am not wearing it, I will not be enjoying wearing a bag with these significant marks

I only purchase matte and crash leathers. I'm a big believer in the fact that leather has natural markings and frankly that is what I like about it. However, white marks in a striped pattern are not "natural" imo. I think you should contact BE. If you pay for BE couture, you should expect to have a pristine bag for that price. I think the return policy should only apply to bags that were delivered as ordered. That's so sad that you waited with anticipation, only to be disappointed.

thank you, Suzi

I did contact Jackie, she says it is normal with matte leather, I could copy her answer here, but I am not sure if I am allowed to do so

yes , anticipation turn into disappointment, unfortunately

Susa

Have you asked Jackie why the atelier didn't try to cut and piece the bag to make the white stripes into a decorative feature. I wouldn't mind them so much if they weren't running at odd angles to each other. That is the reason why BE should take the bag back and refund you in my opinion. Natural leathers do vary and some do have pronounced markings but a bespoke service should be using those to make the bag look better not worse if they intend to buy such hides.

^^ Jenova, no I haven't , I just told her that I think it is a pity that the leather on the backside is perfect with natural marks, no stripes, also the leather on the side, but only the front pieces have these significant marks ! And that I do not understand why the atelier took the less beautiful pieces for the most important side of the bag

thank you, Suzi

Susa - I wouldn't copy and paste the exact reply because I always feel like it is an invasion of privacy. However, you can definitely tell us what she said.

my Enchant-me oversize in matte taupe finally arrived, well I am not that happy, the bag has marks all over on the front side, backside is without any marks and the leather there is perfect, I tried carefully some apple conditioner to "wipe" the marks out, but it did not help at all
what do you think ??

thanks for your opinions

Never seen a matte bag with such bad striations. That cow must've had lots of offspring...
