I'm so sorry to hear about this. That bag is unacceptable, especially for a BEC. I hope there is a happy resolution to this problem and BE offers you a refund or a credit. I'll keep a close eye on this thread.
 
Susa, I have a couple of matte bags that I lent to my sisters to break in and they never quite made it back to me - my sisters love them so much. If this looks like a hopeless situation and returning is not an option, maybe ask someone to break the bag in for you and see what happens? I find the matte leathers develop a sheen after some time and the bag looks totally different.

It would be hard for me to ignore the striations (if I were to make an outright purchase I would choose one without them) but maybe the bag will look different with some use?

I am sorry this has been so disappointing for you. I am a lot like you though and expect companies with good/exceptional CS to offer the solution. It really isn't up to the customer to make things right.
 
Susa, eeeeeek! Those marks aren't good at all. That does not look very nice or just like natural leather grain. I'm with everyone else. I would be so upset and disappointed if that was sent to me. Is there any hope w/ doing a chargeback, as another poster suggested, if you can't get BE to help you?
 
Susa, I"m sorry I just realized that I placed a smiley face in my post where it wasn't appropriate.

I meant to say that I had a good feeling this will all get resolved (happy ending) and place the smiley there NOT one following my observation about Jackie losing customer's. Does that make sense? This is all a shame and a smiley certainly doesn't belong there!

In any event I still think it will have a happy ending for you one way or the other! xoxo

About the 'back' of the bag.....does it have the zippered pockets? Or did you have it custom ordered without?

I love textured leather, but even to me, this one is unacceptable. I hope you're able to get it resolved quickly.

You know that's really a great idea! I once had my girlfriend break in my pewter wtm midi and it really does make a difference in both the bag and your perception.

I know this sounds strange but if there's several markings over the bag then a couple won't stand out as much. My taupe is marked all over so it almost looks "right" . Does that make sense?

Maybe I should keep quiet before Suzi needs to come to my rescue again?

Susa, if all else fails I'm sure there might be someone interested in your bag. I haven't seen any Enchant Me's yet on Bonanzle or Ebay which would be great for you and someone else that might enjoy it.

I know sometimes with a bad experience like this there's really nothing you can do except move on to another bag that will bring a smile!

I'm still like Suzi though hoping for a resolution soon!

hello Contessa, thanks for your opinion

it is an EM oversize , this modell comes without slant pockets in the back, you could order it with the pockets, but it will be a significant extra price
 
i've just read back the last few pages and woah. those marks don't look good and would be unacceptable to me too. i wouldn't be happy using that. i hope it gets resolved to your liking
 
Susa - Maybe you should send Jackie a link to this thread since everyone is in 100% agreement that there should be a resolution. I can not think of a single reason as to how this could be acceptable to leave you with that bag, and you know I always try to see both sides.

I imagine that every business has some type of way to deal with defective bags. I mean it's going to happen on occassion and so there must be some plan in place to resolve the problem when it does happen.

BTW, I have to thank everyone for being able to support Susa without bringing in their own anti BE agendas. When we focus on the problem of the OP rather than focusing on ourselves and our own complaints about everything under the sun, there is no drama and the OP doesn't have to feel bad about bringing up the problem that started the issue. Susa..I just noticed these pictures!! I have now several bags with the matte leather..also some in the Taupe, and I fully agree with you that it would have been a better choise from the atalier to have reversed the skin from the front to the back of the bag.

I find that they normally will cut the skin perfectly to fit with the bag. Of course it cannot be possible to only use the 100% perfect skin on every bag..then the price will be considerably higher. I have some bags, where the side panels are a bit more wrinckled or the middle part has another texture than the rest of the bag, and I find it makes the bag a bit more interesting. But not on your bag.....

I agree that this concerns only 2 people, and the reason why I posted was to have other opinions to find out if I am too picky and having to high expectations regarding a BEC
on one hand people write good things about a company ( I did in the past) , but the medal always has two sides

Bonniekir: I completely agree with you, it is not at all understandable why the leather with all the marks was taken for the most important frontside, and not for the back or the sides..........this makes no sense for me at all, with a bit of common sense sb would have chosen that cow stretch mark leather NOT for the most exposed and important part of the bag

don't ask my why they did this, I did not get any answer regarding this

Suzi - Great post!!!! I can't say I"m happy with BE at the moment and I don't think they're all about the type of customer service they appear or like to come across BUT right now we're all worried about Susa so we're keeping our focus on her! I"m happy to see all the wonderful support she's receiving from PF member's.

Susa- I happen to know that Jackie does read this forum on a regular basis. I have a feeling (and I'm usually very intuitive) that Jackie will back down and make this right. Not necessarily for outstanding CS but because she'll know that she stands to lose a lot of PF member's as customer's based on your experience. If this could happen to you then it can happen to anyone here. But, whether you receive good news this week or not her reaction to date has not been right. This has created stress for you that shouldn't have been there from the start.

I"m sure BE didn't think you'd go on the PF to discuss this so they perhaps wouldn't have done anything before but now that everyone here knows I"m going on record for saying that you'll see results and soon! Hang in there!

P.S. And I agree with Jenova about contacting your CC company immediately. That can't hurt to place them on notice. But, I have a feeling that it won't go that far and you'll receive good news shortly once Jackie realizes all the support your receiving from her customer's.

I am so sorry to hear that BE still has not agreed to refund you in full for what is clearly a faulty item. I have no experience of having a credit card company get money back for me but I think you should investigate whether you can do this as soon as possible.

Please keep posting to let us know what happens.
