Current monogram key pouches that are made in USA appear to all have poor stitching.

It has nothing to do with where it is made, but who makes it. I received a damier graphite MIF that I could see light through a couple weeks ago. This week I received a monogram MIF that I cannot see light through, but the zipper sticks and the corners look a little wonky.
I agree with this- I bought a MIU graph cles around the holidays 2019 and besides the check boxes being slightly off register, it is fine. I bought it in-store and knowing how hard it is to get a good cles, I just took it home after inspection. This is an item I would prefer to buy in-store because of the quality issues. It is an entry item- I know this should not matter- so I am sure they make many of them without a lot of oversight. It is up to the individual craftsperson to have pride in their work- and it goes for France as well as the US.

I compared my MIU key pouch (2019) with my friend's MIF (2007) and hers is definitely made better. The stitching on my MIU one is very noticable on the outside, uneven, and spaced out. The corners are bumpy. The zipper lining on the inside of the pouch has two humps like it wasn't adhered to the leather. When I first got it I was shocked and disappointed - it looked nothing like a luxury purchase and I even wondered if it was fake (even though I bought it at an LV store). My friend's key pouch has none of these issues and she's been using it every day, stuffed to the brim, for 13 years. It looks brand new.

I kept my key pouch because I didn't want to try and get another one only to have the same issues. It does work fine (use it for membership/gift and stamp cards) but I can't say anything about how it's held up to regular use because I mostly keep it at home.

I'm new to LV and the luxury handbag world in general and have had mixed feelings about LV quality. Most of my LV pieces so far are beautiful and well made (mix of MIU and MIF), but I do have a couple with issues with MIU pieces that do not justify the luxury price

i think it has more to do with quality control than an individual person. obviously there should be inspections in place but it looks like most of the pieces made by the craftsperson in USA are overlooked. it could be that there are different definitions of "defects" in France vs USA, something like light peeking through may be important in France but less important in USA (different perspectives).
statistically, we've seen way more MIU pieces that are terrible. not to say that MIF is perfect either. but there's just been a history of MIU complaints in TPF.

I had recently bought both the mono and DE key pouches. The DE was made in USA and I had to return it because it had a strong chemical smell. The new one I received also had a smell. The stitching looks fine, but you can definitely see through the bottom on the DE...not the Mono MIF.

Just returned mine as well (MIUSA), not only did it have poor stitching but the leather also had a crease. Was very disappointed! Just ordered a new one though, hopefully I’ll have better luck this time.

Oh, no! I recently lost mine. I used it every day for many years and it was in really good shape. I am planning on re-purchasing the monogram cles. I will have to go to the store in person to check them out.
