Hello guys (and girls). I am now to the forum and this is only my third post. I chose the handle "FrenchNewbie" because, while I do have a nice and sizable collection of Louis Vuitton bags (my significant other gives me crap for it...lol), I do not own any Hermés/Chanel/Goyard bags (yet!!).
I came to this thread because it struck a chord with me. I have owned many MIF Clés over the years, and loved them all---they held up really well, etc.
However I recently bought a few DA and DE Clés that were made in USA and the quality difference smacked me in the face. Like others have mentioned: the zippers are off, the stitching is bad...and, I don't know if it is it my imagination but, the MIU shapes look more like slouched sacks---rather than the rectangular shape of the ones made in France. I am glad I am not the only one who notices the lack of QA for USA-made items. It sounds stereotypical, but this is why the Asians and Europeans look as us as inferior when it comes to cars/watches/luxury apparel, because apparently the American culture does not take [as much] pride in its work/craftsmanship.
I have told my SA (who is unfortunately on the west close closer to the SD factory) that I do not want anything made in USA. And apparently LV knows about the negative connotation, because you notice they no longer stamp 'Made in USA' like they generously do for other countries...hmmmmmm.
