Coated canvas in Florida has a different problem. Lack of humidity in a home/closet will dry out the bag and it will also crack.

Just going through this thread......you are so right! I have an Alviero Martini bag that hardly gets used and has been sitting in its dust cover for about a year or two. I live in Florida. Well, guess what....where the bag had a little wrinkle to it where it wasn't stuffed properly, the canvas coating cracked, and now I have a white spot on the bag, so I truly believe weather conditions do affect coated canvas. You just have to find out what is best for extreme cold, heat, dryness or humidity. That is the thing.

As per my SA, LV will likely proceed with an exchange if the bag is cracked within five years of purchase.

The boutique near me didn’t exhange or repair mine :sad:
After seeing this post, I found total of 4 cracks near the zipper of my speedy 30 bandouliere in damiere ebene. I went to LV store right away last Dec 2018 to get it checked. I was hopeful that they would replace it or I would be also be happy if they’ll reglazed it so the cracks won’t get bigger. I purchased my speedy b on year 2014.
But after the SA took pictures and submitted it to QC, I got call back and was told that it was wear and tear and they can’t do anything. I was disappointed.
I called the client services to get a second opinion and just waiting for reply.

Hopefully. I was really suprised with their findings. I’ve read lots of reviews regarding their speedy getting replaced or got a store credit due to cracking on zipper. Unfortunately, I wasn’t offered either even when my speedy b is in great condition. Congrats to the ladies who got new bags! I’ll update you guys with what the Client Services will say. I just hope they look into this issue closely than my local lv store.

Just to update others in a similar situation: when I took it in to be assessed the SA was insistent I must have cut the bag somehow and it was wear and tear and nothing would be done. I politely insisted it be viewed by the stores repair specialist as potentially defective and left the bag with them. I wasn’t hopeful based on my treatment, and the write up of my bags condition I didn’t agree with.

After some weeks I received a message from another SA that the bag would be fully refunded to the current value with a store credit for 12 months.

It certainly paid off being polite but firm so thanks to all who contribute their knowledge to tpf [emoji3]

Hi, i just saw your post. And i wantes to ask if they were able to exchange your bag or something? Im experiencing it now in my speedy B damier 30, i saw 1 cracked today same as yours. I got mine in 2015.

I have these cracks too but my bag is 8 years old so I expected this to be a part of the wear and tear. Definitely shouldn’t have issues like this when it’s less than 2 years old unless it’s the climate you live in and the bag is always bending from being worn crossbody.

I know this is an old thread, but I just noticed this on both of my classic Speedys (Mono and DE). They are 10 years old, but this is still very annoying and shouldn't happen. I think it's time for me to move on from LV.

10 years is quite a long time, you can still bring it in to LV to see what they say, it might surprise you.

I sent an email to their customer service. I really can't be bothered to try to get an appointment at the boutique right now. It gets booked up so quickly. :oh:

On both bags the cracks are exactly where the inner pockets are attached, so I think it has something to do with that - which is weird since I never use the inner pockets.

Those bags should last a lot longer than 10 years, but I guess all those brands disagree with me on this. Maybe I should go back to spending all my money on books. :hbeat:

Hi i am in a similar situation, bought my bag bak in 2015 and have got hairline cracks near the zipper. Would you mind sharing how did it go with client services? Thanks
