Considering First LV Purchase - Suggestions/Recommendations?

I would suggest taking it back today if possible, since there is a problem with the lock, and the bag has a spot. If it must be exchanged, personally, I would have called customer service immediately to log the issue, and would not wait on this, or carry it around the house for a week. Also, since you are still not sure what you want, it might be a good idea to go by yourself, so that you can think clearly and not be influenced by anyone else's opinion. This is your bag, and you have to pay for it and carry it. You know what speaks to you, and what everyone else thinks you should choose really is irrelevant. (Lol! Including my comments!)
Thanks prepster! I am planning on going tomorrow or Sunday to look again at other options or if I want to ask about changing the lock etc. The lock bothers me more than the spot - it is a bit bigger than a pinhead. I am more picky than others - especially with the cost. If I return and don't say anything no one would even notice I am sure. Or do you think I should log something with CS? I haven't had it 24 hours yet.

I appreciate the comments on going alone - it makes sense!

Can you take a picture of the lock and the spot?

The lock is definitely unusually tarnished, and they'll switch that. But keep in mind that even when they switch it for a shiny one, the gold won't match the pulls. I have no idea why. If the rest of the bag looks good, I wouldn't worry about the spot, it is probably natural to the hide, and your vachetta will only stay white for about 5 minutes anyway. :) But if it bothers you, just exchange it.

Hi! First, let me say, the bag is gorgeous....*sigh* all that beautiful new vachetta leather. I read all 8 pages of commentary, and I think the mono is a great choice, as your style seems a bit more on the casual side-like mine!-and the Epi Noir just seems more "dressed up" to me. I have 3 mono bags that would now be considered "vintage", as they're 20+ yrs old, but they were purchased new. The leather has aged/patinaed beautifully, no spots, no weird wear patterns. There's no way it won't darken, starting where you touch/carry the bag most. I do NOT baby my bags, but part of the beauty of LV vachetta is how it ages. Having said that, the bag really should make your heart sing-they're expensive!-and it's kind of like love at first sight. If you're having second thoughts already, swap it out now for a different version. BTW, the Speedy 35 was my first LV, and almost 30 years later we're still going strong :)

Ok stopped at local store again! Tried monogram and Epi. Those are the two I'm down too.

I like the no worry of Epi and black is always classic but do I need another black?

Love the idea of the vachetta getting a nice honey patina! At same time worry a bit about water spots etc.

My dear daughter took pics of both.

Any final thoughts opinions would be awesome

I saw your name mentioned in today's (7/21) weekly Roundup, where it mentions about your first LV purchase....so I read your whole journey and I'm so happy for you! Good luck with making sure that you end up with a perfect item...and wear it well! Both bags DID look good on you in your pics.

In case Roundup is new to you, when you first land on Purse Forum's main menu you can type Roundup in the search field. It's posted weekly, only on Fridays. I found out I was mentioned last week (they posted my Keith Haring Tote), thanks to Iamminda alerting me to it.

Enjoy your new bag!

Thanks so much!

I went back to the store today with another friend. I believe I have made my decision on what works best for me and suits my lifestyle.

I will update soon on my final decision ;-)

Did I miss a reveal -- or has your choice not been finalized yet? I don't want to miss anything! :giggle:
Thanks for checking...nope you didn't miss a reveal. My choice has been finalized...actually waiting for UPS and hoping they come before I need to go to work. LV kind of messed up. They did not upload the shipment details for UPS so I cannot change delivery to be held at UPS! Ugh...sure glad I paid for overnight shipping.

Long story short....I hope maybe tomorrow!

Aw, sorry you're stuck with a delay! I'm guessing your new arrival will help you forget all about that!

Good luck -- can't wait to see it (along with all other TPF'ers)!
