Comparison of the Goatskin vs NVT leather Bayswater?

Dear fellow Bayswater fans,
I am trying to decide between which material for my very first Bayswater and would appreciate enormously any advice and experience you have comparing the merits of goatskin vs NVT leather. I've heard that the goatskin bag is lighter and holds its shape more (which is a "pro" in my book..).

Hi there- I have two bays in polished goatskin- they are much lighter than NVT a bit more structured though I wouldnt say that much as the goatskin is a lovely soft feeling leather- the big plus for me is that is it so easy to care for- rain just runs off it and it never seems to mark or scratch- I am very biased as goatskin is my all time fav leather- what colours are you looking at? Blueberry or mushroom?

I think it is a very personal thing as I didn't like my goatskin bays as it quickly became soft and squashy and lost it's shape whereas my NVT bays hold their shape more. I think the fact that you have two opposing opinions (elvis I will fight you later ok?) emphasises the fact that you need to try both before you buy.

I can tell you that NVT is lovely, very sturdy and develops a nice, glossy patina. The Bays in NVT can be rather heavy when full though, depending on what you carry.

I will soon be able to give you a firsthand review of the goatskin. ;)

Im too scared to fight you!! My goatskin bays havent gone squashy but the leather is lovely and soft- and in my defence I did say they were only a little bit more structured!!!

For me its NVT or Printed VT - I prefer the matte finish and more rigid feel of NVT. To me, NVT is THE classic Mulberry leather and I love that.

Goatksin is def more easy to care for and far less maintenance than NVT. Plus you get brighter colour options.

If you can get to an Outlet - you will see all the leathers and can compare them. In Bays, I think we must up to a choice of about 10 leathers - all with pros/cons.

I would say NVT is the classic option. Printed NVT keeping shape even more.

IMO Goatskin doesn't lose it's shape. It relaxes into soft beautiful lines which is entirely different to collapsing into a shapeless mess. In colours it has all the benefit of patent wow factor with none of the downside.(bashing, cracking, fingerprints)

I'd go NVT first , followed quickly by goatskin.

Corries- I agree with you and I did- rapidly- I love my goatskin bays- boring old me who didnt do colour- I love my emerald green bays- so much so I have just recd an emerald green goatskin roxy from a lovely fellow tpfer- she is soooo gorgeous- just keep stroking her!!!
