These are close up shots of my '05 sky blue city. It appears veiny in some areas more than others. The leather is very soft, though. Nothing like the '06's I touched at NM. Hope you can see the texture well. This color is pretty light.

i JUST received a big black weekender today. was very excited because im' going to be travelling with it very soon, but when i pulled out the tag... i noticed it was from 2005 1!!! 
the bag was sent from the boutique in nyc. i'm puzzled because do they really have bags that old just sitting around still? and if so, how does the leather from that season compare to the ones from the new season? i reallly liked how the ones from the new season are much thicker, which is CRUCIAL for the weekender. should i exchange it?

My first B-bag purchase was in 2006, and it was a 2005 bag.
I looked at the 06 bags and buying an 05 didnt bother me. If bags had a 'use-by' date or could go off, then I would worry
The store I purchased mine from dont put b-bags on sale EVER. They keep them until sold out.
If they are left with stock from the year before, some buyers will specifically request a bag from the previous year, as they prefer it for whatever reason.
Out of all of the bags I looked at, the 05' leather on my Twiggy was by far the best.

I personally wouldnt worry, but it really comes down to the individual. The year shouldnt matter, unless you specifically wanted a 2006 bag.

I used Lovinmybag products on my bag which gave it some thickness anyway.
My advice: If you love it, keep it!

Are you sure it's a 2005? What letter is at the end of the middle line of the interior tag...is it 'A'??? If so, you've got a great bag from before Balenciaga changed the leather.

The leather was very thick and soft en smoothie, but did U bought it for the 2005 price. Because every year the price goes up, so i think the bag schould be cheaper in 2005.

and please post pics!I do believe that they have bags just sitting there because back at the end of Sept, when I was shopping for a grenat, in a random conversation,I mentioned that ideally I prefer the bordeaux color. They told me that they had 1 first left. I was really surprised but I didn't end up buying it bc it wasn't the size that I wanted in that color and the leather was so veiny and thin.

wow thanks for all of the input you guys! i looked at the tag and it definitely says A on it. it is a lot less distressed than the leather from now but seems like it may hold up a lot better than those that are. i'm charging my camera now but i will post pics soon!!
