I know exactly what you mean, meg. My Mom doesn't have mobility issues, but at age 90 she obviouslyno longer drives, so getting to the mall is complicated for her. As a result, she rarely bothers to go. But... if I suggest to her that we hit the stores together, she gets all excited, and we have a blast. She's the only one I can trust to tell me if something looks good on me (and I do the same for her).

When we lived in Salt Lake City, her condo was 3 blocks from Nordstrom. We used to go there a lot... Neal used to joke that if we hadn't been there in a month, they'd send each of us a Get Well card! And we could spend hours... but those days are over. Two hours, and then lunch, is about our limit.
We usually make it for about 5 hours and lunch, but that is only a couple of times a year. It takes her a few days to recover from the trip. Usually takes me at least one too. We used to go to the Nordstrom that was close to our house, but that was before our favorite SA left.
I'm 2 years away from 50 and am only buying classics now. I'm lusting after a prada tote in cameo. That will be my next bag.
Welcome Mixlv!
I didn't realize you took care of your mil full time, how good of you, especially with all your own issues. I think i'd be at SCP with her as often as possible!
Yes, it didn't start out that way but she has gotten older and needs more help than she use to. It was when my issues were in full swing that I had her come stay here until I was better. It was too hard to go and help her at her place bring her back here and then take her back home in the evening. We do love SCP but even though it is relatively close about 26 miles from my house it can take an hour to get there with traffic and sometimes 2 hours to get home. Since it is a large mall and requires the wheelchair it still takes a lot out of both of us. So we save it for special occasions.
