Coach wants to be the American Louis Vuitton...

i routinely visit our local coach outlet store and the employees are amazing. you can tell they are a team and all support each other. they know me when i go in and we even share personal stories. i think that it just depends on which store you visit as to the caliber of employees you run into just like any store.

I agree with this sentiment, it all depends on the people who run the store. My local store has some great ladies who go above and beyond, I always recommend locals to head there if they are looking for a new bag. I also have been in poorly managed stores too, both Coach and non-Coach stores. You can tell when the ones running the place are bad at it.

I can't help but feel like they should stop trying to be something they are not and concentrate on making quality products that they built the brand on.

The concept we want to price ourselves out of this world, i guess for some people it maybe all about price but for me i want the item to be worth that and half(heck more than) the luxury goods out there are in no way able to warrant their high price points as it is.

Gotta Agree with this one here. Paying $1k for a CANVAS bag is ridiculous. The quality needs to match the price, no matter who the designer is. If Coach can keep with that standard it may do them better then trying to make Coach a "name". LV is just that... a "name" so when it comes to quality, price point should match. Coach has full leather bags that are 1/6 the price of a canvas LV....thats retarded.

:goodpost:

I used to want a chanel bag, then i learned that the gold hardware is no long truly gold yet the prices continue to skyrocket. Maybe someday i'll get a vintage one that really was doing something to command the price rather than just its image. As it is right now, coach is a good value for the cost for the most part (i say as a mostly on-sale shopper). They've got a good niche with that. It would be a shame if they threw it away.

+1

Coach's new lines are in the ballpark of $400-$1800. They seem to be selling well although admittedly the only feedback I have on that is the buzz on these forums so hardly a broad field.
What I wonder is how those who are buying those expensive bags full price are going to feel when they end up going on sale or to the outlets for a fraction of their original cost.....because they always seem to end up there no matter what anyone says.

It just seems to be Coach's business model.

I think Coach is really stepping it up with these new bags. The quality looks good, the designs are good, and yes, more expensive, but still very reasonable price for what they are.

Yes, it'll be interesting to see if any of the 1941 bags end up at the outlet.

It doesn't bother me if it shows up at the outlet. A lot of Coach bags go to the outlet.

It doesn't bother me either, it only bothers me if I pay full price (and the newer prices are quite a price hike from Coach's norm) and then you see it at the outlet for a much reduced price.
But like I said, it doesn't bother me because I won't be paying $800 for the new bags. The only one I might be interested in anyway is the Rogue but until I can see it in person I'm safe:graucho:
