Coach vs. Louis Vuitton

There is a thread in the Chanel forum about the "Made in France" label. Any of the premium designers can do most of their manufacturing in Asia and just finish the bag in France in order to legally put the "Made in France" label on their items. It is probable that this is exactly what is happening. Some people who have gone on tours at factories say that in Asia, after hours, the same equipment may be used to manufacture high quality fakes.

Coach creeds still say hand-crafted. Sitting on an assembly line controlling a sewing machine is considered "handmade."

I actually used to work with a girl who got a fake LV from her sister who went overseas to Asia for work, and claimed this very thing. It was the real authentic coated canvas, but not the real leather they used. I always wondered if it was true or not.

I have a few Taiga and Epi leather products from over ten years ago that have worn beautifully and appear nearly new. A few months ago I decided to replace my 13 year old Epi leather wallet. At first I chose the Slim wallet in Damier Graphite but once I got my cards in the wallet it would not closed lined up. I took the wallet in three days later to exchange for the Damier Zippy Compact wallet. After some grief from the clerk saying that they don't normally exchange items unless they are in perfect unused condition (I pointed out that I didn't use it just put my cards in) they agreed to the exchange. So a few months later the edges of the Damier wallet were showing threads which shouldn't be happening. So I brought the wallet in and they agreed to get me a new one and would call me when one arrives in the store. A month or so goes by and I stopped in the store to see the status of my new wallet and the manager informs me that they forgot to call me and sold the wallet. In addition he told methat that design has been discontinued. I was offered another wallet but all were just typical wallets and the reason why I got the zippy wasbecause of the zipper. They then offered to repair it. As I took the cards and cash out of the wallet I also noticed that the interior leather wasseparating so I told them to fix that too. Six weeks later, this past week they let me know that the wallet was back from repair. I go in Friday night to pick it up and examine it. The fraying canvas was repaired but the interior leather was still separating and not repaired. I told the clerk that I would exchange for the new Smart walletas it has a zippered coin pocket and snaps closed. I had to pick it up the next day when the manager was in. So Saturday I picked it up and when I got home I put my cards and cash in and noticed that the wallet is very small and it wasnot worth $540 for a barely functional wallet. So on Sunday I went in and demanded a completerefund after detailing to the other manager the aforementioned series of unfortunate events.Needless to say I am done with Louis Vuitto. I actually found several Coach items that are made as well or better at a fraction of the price. It's sad that after 20+ years of owning Louis Vuitton that they have completely lost my trust. I've had to remind the clerks and managers that they're not selling $50 wallets l, that's how bad the customer service is. Btw, Coach customer service has been excellent.

The bottom piece? I've seen that on bags, it's not a biggie. It happens from the way it was stored or shipped. If you stuff it and store it stuffed when not in use that 'inward sway' in the leather will even out.
Yes the bottom piece and round handle attachments have light scratches on them but not as bad as the other purse that was sent to me.

Just keep the bag stuffed and it will help with the shape and a good leather conditioner should help buff the light marks out of the leather.....and it might even help with the reshaping of the bottom of the bag if the leather is dry.

I wouldn't expect a new bag to look like that...did you get a good price?
No

Thank you.

Unfortunately no. This is the second exchange for this purse. I had to do the first exchange Because the screws were coming out from the two metal pieces that attach to one of the round handle attachments.the first one I got was all scratched up on the handles like it had been used and the returned. and there were scratches on the leather too. So I took it back to coach the very next day after it was delivered to me. So the purse in the photo is the second one that I've received. And the manager at the coach that ordered this purse said that he called the store that filled the order and had someone look over the purse before they sent it out to me. And told me that the purse looked good and no scratches on the handle. :hrmm: So I'll go back to the coach store today.

Oops! Since you said you had received it in the mail I thought that you had bought it off of ebay or somewhere like that since Coach ships UPS. Sorry, my bad. If it's new I wouldn't accept it unless you want the bag bad and think you won't get a better one.

Ugg! What a drag! I understand your frustration!

When I run into a situation like this, I think to myself, "Well, you weren't meant to have this bag...so what other bag can I spend the $$ on?" LOL
