i wouldn't say hate, but i dislike d&b.

only because they have those white bags with brightly colored logos on it, or black with bright logo.

same reason why i didn't like LV's monogram in multicolor.

just looks childish IMO.

i've seen some people walk in with d&b and it's not horrible, but a lot of times it's logo and i'm really more of a leather girl...

I'm not a huge fan of the colorful patterns unless they're on younger girls, then I think they're cute. I must say, I don't own a Dooney at the moment, but every time I see someone with a dooney signature or leather bag I always think to myself "That woman looks really nice." I think there's something about the classic lines of most of their designs. I've thought about buying a Dooney at moments just because they look nice with tailored clothes. Coach will always be my first love, though, regardless.

I had to comment on this board (haven't visited the Coach board in a while). That said, I like Dooney; I used to be a d&b hater until I actually owned a couple bags. Now I kinda like them! So far, my bags haven't crapped out on me, and they hold up rather well. Yes, I don't like their kiddish designs (which is what made me hate dooney in the first place), and perhaps they're not on a higher threshold as Coach, but I don't think they're bags are complete trash.

i think it's unfair to say dooney doesn't make anything nice...because, they really do. some of their leathers are really great.

and, you know, i never understood why people are so quick to diss dooney's multicolor...but think lv's is so great...

That is true.

D&B was my first "designer" bag back in 1987, and it has held up great. Like all lines, there are some I love, and some I don't. I go in phases.

I have also learned never to say never...

As to some of the younger looking lines, like the Bees...well, my friend who is in her 50's just got one of the totes and she total rocks it! Her name starts with the letter D and her name happens to mean bumble-bee so it was perfect for her!

That sounds adorable! That's so cool. I bet she looks great with the bag.

i like dooney for my colorful youthful bags and coach for my classy ones. I know coach has some youthful bags, but most are the patchwork. i dislike patchwork. so dooney and coach are both divine

Right now, hanging on my closet door is a Coach and a Dooney. Both of them are sharp looking bags. Both brands have numerous styles, so there is something for everyone. Hey, I stopped Coach for years because I thought the leather was too heavy, but now I am back like a bandit. But, I did go to my local boutique in the last three days and drop $180ish on five pieces of Vera Bradley because the new patterns have come out. I got 4 bags and a change purse for what I would pay for a small handbag in Coach or Dooney. I am rocking the new Peacock Betsy today. It is a beautiful spring color for a crappy, wintery day.

Hello everyone, this is my very first post. :shame: Well, i am biased towards Coach, hence my name. In my opinion D&B has come up with some fuuugly styles recently such as the Bee line and this new Candy line: Dooney & Bourke White CANDY!! Tassel Tote CY45 - NEW!!!

:yucky: I guess they are trying to target a younger crowd---but I prefer their current suede and python styles instead

I love Coach first and foremost, but if someone got me a nice leather Dooney & Bourke bag I certainly wouldn't turn it down. I lived in Montana in 2005 (my husband is a native, so we visit every year) and I noticed that D & B is very popular not only among teenagers, older gals as well. I can remember being at Dillard's and checking out the Coach bags and seeing teenage girls hovering around the D & B section of the handbag dept and totally ignoring the Coach. (I have a snotty teenage step-niece who thinks she's big stuff because she has a D & B bag.)

I think it's kind of interesting what bags are predominant in certain areas of the country. When I visited relatives in Florida, I saw a lot of Louis Vuitton and some Coach, in Montana/Wyoming a lot of D & B, and here in upstate New York, there's a lot of Coach.
