Since the brand originates from New York, I find it hard to believe that a New Yorker finds it hard to believe she's carrying a Coach bag. I understand not preferring certain seasons/collections of bags over others, but making such a grandiose statement like that won't really win major points on a Coach lovers' forum.

Personally I just wasn't a fan of any of their products for ages. I used to be really into Coach back in the early 2000's. I'm probably the first person in my industry/social circle to wear a Coach bag again-it's a bold move for me, and I'm kind of excited about it! It's not meant to be an insult to people who liked the brand previously.

I actually spoke to someone who works for Coach corporate and the new CD is intending on turning around the brand and he's looking for a different target market. And that's ok! It's what branding and fashion design is all about. I work in this industry myself, so it's really peaked my interest.

Was no means a negative post! I'm loving the new design, and am a past brand loyalist who is re-considering the brand again. That's a great thing, and that's what they want. The brand was doing very very poorly over the past years and they're taking a new direction. It's not personal to people who preferred the past creative director. It's business.

Ease up everyone!
Cheers.

I've always loved Coach, I just fell away from their aesthetic over the past years. I think what they're doing is exciting, and if you love Coach - you should be pumped that style mavens and fashion bloggers are starting to take notice of the brand again, because the design is top notch. As a devoted New Yorker, I do think it's an added bonus that it's considered a NY brand. If they started actually making a few of their styles here, THAT would be awesome.

Funny how you never posted on tpf then came straight to Coach board and no other just to post that. Longtime members will always defend their brand. Hope your original post was accidentally saying it the wrong way....

Agreed. I had been away from Coach for over a year until I saw the Fall collection. Hence my screen name. However, when I gravitated back toward Coach I didn't comment as if the brand was beneath me because I own other, more expensive bags.

That's great that you're "in the industry" and as a social maven, you're excited about the company originating from your own city. I agree with you that Coach needs to stop making products in China. But as a teacher, I help teenagers learn to make inferences and - you know - "read between the lines." I don't think many of them would have trouble picking up a tone of pretension in your posts.

Oh dear. I feel so unfashionable to learn that I have been purchasing Coach bags while they were not cool in a certain social/industry circle! OMG! This is awful! What will I do with all of these unfashionable bags?????

:-)
