Well, I'm too lazy to go back and attach this update on the 4902.

I dunked the Sonoma School bag today. Turns out the cardboard lining is actually a piece of stiff leather. A small piece of the lining didn't catch when assembled so I was able to see inside. Dunk went well and it drying now with first coat of CPR.View attachment 3805979View attachment 3805980

I dunked the Sonoma School bag today. Turns out the cardboard lining is actually a piece of still leather. A small piece of the lining didn't catch when assembled so I was able to see inside. Dunk went well and it drying now with first coat of CPR.View attachment 3805979View attachment 3805980

Good news! But I don't have permission to see the photos.

That's what I would expect from that timeframe.

Okay so my black rocks has arrived and I have my castile soap. So all I do is wash my bag with castile soap/vinegar(mold) and a soft sponge...stuff it in paper to shape the bag and once bag is dry I buff on black rocks?

I'm doing a restoration on my coach city bag.

I use old towels and wash clothes to stuff my bags while they are drying. I don't think paper would work very well. I roll my towels like a log. Be careful not to overstuff the bag.

You also need another good conditioner, like Leather CPR or Leather Therapy. Start applying the conditioner while the bag is still damp. You may need several rounds 24 hours apart depending on how dry your bag is. Black rock is the last step. Apply very sparingly and buff with a paper towel as you apply it.

ETA: Does your bag have mold damage? If so, you may want to make sure you use a conditioner that inhibits mold growth. Use the vinegar in the wash/rinse and maybe also put it in the sun.

You can get leather CPR at Marshalls for about $7. It's a good first coat during drying. And an excellent no fuss conditioner all the time. I use mine all the time. Also I second using old towels for stuffing rather than paper. When it's dry paper is useful to help keep the shape when the bag isn't in use.

I also started my first Coach bag rehab today on a City Bag. I took the turnlock pieces off (the clasp itself is super loose so I'll need to replace it, anyway). It's been soaked and rinsed and is currently drying stuffed with towels.

Does anyone else whisper "You're so pretty!" at their bags? Because I can't stop myself and I feel like it might be a useful step in the process. It looks so good right now.

Missed everyone. Here for some binge posting!
I guess it has been a few weeks since I started to rehab a very dry, squashed camel colored (I like to say blonde) Bleeker Basket tote, 9302. I did a 20 minute warm soak/scrub with toothbrush in Lexol cleaner followed by a 20 minute warm rinse. While she dried I applied Leather Therapy R/C and I had just got a bottle of Leather CPR and I applied that too. Still, the leather was really stiff. Not terribly surprised. I then applied Obenauf's Oil when she had dried. And she was still dry, which kinda surprised me. I have not applied more than one app of O Oil to any of my bags. So I applied another appl of O Oil and she is still stiff. Kinda leans to one side. So I am stalled here. Here are my after pics.20170826_142157.jpg 20170826_142041.jpg

The Obenauf's Oil, as I expected, deepened the tone to more of a tabac color, if you can imagine that from this style's original color. Now she's a dirty blonde! I read in @katev 's rehab of the black Lexington she applied the O Oil while the bag was still damp, if IRC. So I am kinda stalled. Debating whether to add another app of O Oil to the bag now, or redunk and apply while damp.
Fellow rehabbers, your thoughts??
