I tried Tandy Eco-Flo Waterstain dye on a pseudo-Coach Willis and got nice results. The original bag was a light brown color and I tried to remove some pen marks and ended up with bleached spots. I used their red dye and it covered nicely and evenly with two coats. It was my first time dying a bag and at the end, I looked like I'd been in a slasher movie with dye all over my arms and a couple of fingers - even though I wore gloves. Highly recommended.

I tried it once with the bag straight out of the water and the second time with it bone dry. The first round seemed to penetrate better, fwiw.

Did you use acetone on the bag before you applied the dye? You have to fully strip down the leather for the Fiebings to work properly. It will be streaky if the bag isn't prepped properly. I'm not sure you can correct the bag after you add dye to it. Feibings isn't the kind of dye that penetrates the leather, so I don't think that will work.

I did. It's not streaky. I just thought it would get better if I dunked it again. More "Pop", ya know? I have one bottle left and thought it might be an idea to try.
You know how the color refreshes and comes back with a bath? That was my line of thinking.

I have to give you all credit for dying a bag a different color. I will dunk just about anything but I am not brave enough to dye a bag! However I will touch up a faded bag. I did get the Saphir products for restoring color to faded leather so hopefully I will have time to work on my black tester bag on Sunday. I will post the products too.
My dry blonde Bleeker Tote is now a less dry dirty Blonde. After two apps of Obenauf's Oil with the second being generous, the leather is still somewhat dry and the hue has deepened, as expected to more or less a putty color. I will post a pic over the weekend. I think I will apply a third app to the middle section as that area just sucks it up. I can see the color is deeper toward the top of the bag and by the bottom stitching where it is still leveling out. Just a super dry bag. After that, we'll see.
My excitement is that my most recent bag arrived the other night, a Market or Marketing Tote, I have to go back and check her proper name. It was a bid I did not expect to win. She is probably mocha/mahogany , supple with some stains but no rough wear. And a NYC bag to boot. I could not believe there was no other bidding. Then after I won it I thought to check the seller's feedback. Not good. I was sweating it out but paid immediately and received feedback the next day and the bag was shipped immediately and was well pacakaged too! Pictures to come, here is a link.

Fantastic deal! Congratulations!

I don't think they made Bleeckers in putty. It is probably a very faded camel.

I bought a Saphir product too. Not something with color though, something called delicate cream.

Dear Rehab Experts,

At the moment I am working on rehabbing a black Lexington briefcase and a black Basic bag, and I think that they will be easy rehabs, except for the verdigris on the briefcase, but I have a plan for that.

My next rehab will be more difficult and I am looking for advice. I found my "Holy Grail Namesake Bag", the Legacy Katy Travel Tote 10396 at Goodwill for $30, but it is in terrible condition, see the link below for the authentication pictures.

https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/authenticate-this-coach.889527/page-1610#post-31575792

The bag is very dirty both inside and out, the metallic gold leather is rubbed and distressed and missing, the Legacy fabric is very dirty and snagged in some areas, the bottom corners are frayed and distressed, and there is a tear in one of the gold leather handles.

I am thinking of hand-washing, followed by machine washing if necessary. I may attempt to repair the damage to the handle by myself or take it to a cobbler, but maybe I should go straight for machine washing?

I will have to address the damage to the bottom corners and the rubbed gold metallic leather. And I may use paint to repair the distressed gold metallic leather as necessary.

Also, the fabric is very dirty and there are some snags. I would appreciate any advice from my rehab colleagues, thank you!

I love that bag! I had a similar tote. It was in the days before I took good care of my bags, and well before I knew anything about rehabbing. I gave it to my step-mother, who wanted to try to clean it up. I am pretty sure she threw it in the washer. You might try Soilove on it first before you try the washer. I had good luck using Soilove on the really dirty lining of a bag that is made of the same material as the exterior of your tote. (It even removed the ink.) If Soilove doesn't work, then I think I'd put it in the washer.

Thanks, I have some Soilove, so that is worth a try!

I have the swingpack version and love it! I think I may have use a moist towel with a dot of Dawn and/or alcohol to clean mine. As for the metallic rubs, I highly recommend the Jacquard pigments mixed with conditioner. Check out these results and good luck! https://forum.purseblog.com/index.php?posts/30600493/

My bag will need more than spot cleaning, it is truly filthy inside and out. Do you use the jacquard pigments on metallic leather also or is it just for hardware?

Yes, sounds like the washer might be more efficient on that one.
I've only used them with conditioner on leather, and have used them several more times since those boots. Just give it plenty of time to cure, just like you would the acrylic paint method. I've not been able to find my swingpack this summer else I'd check color matching for you. I'll look for it again today.

I want to share a recent rehab because I am really pleased with it, but it is not even Coach and I had to do so little that it hardly counts as a rehab. But I've removed 2 items from my rehab pile and found new opportunities to use some of those Coach accessories that I am always buying!

My company recently gave us new slim laptop computers and they came with standard computer bags but I wanted to carry a nicer bag. Then I remembered a black Vera Bradley tote that I had picked up very cheap several years ago. When I was searching for the bag in my rehab piles, I came across a VB cosmetic bag that I also bought because it was cheap - and I figured that I could use it to hold the power cord and small parts for the laptop. The cosmetic bag was very dirty and had dark marks inside.

I've never been a huge VB fan because I don't care for the paisley patterns, but I recognize that they make light-weight, good quality items - and I have been carrying VB lunch totes for years and I love them.

When I found the black VB tote I saw that I had only paid $2 for it at Savers in 2011 - so it has been in my rehab pile for a long time! And I paid $4 for the cosmetic bag at Goodwill, so this was going to be a very cheap rehab.

Here are the before pics.

All I had to do was spot treat the VB tote and cosmetic bag and put them into net laundry bags and run them through the washer, then stuff them and let them dry and trim a few stray threads. The piping was thin on the bottom corners so I treated them with Fray-Chek - pretty easy!

Here are the after pics.

And here are all the Coach accessories that now have a home in my new computer bag!

Chalk Tassel Charm 65834 BK CHK (Paid $20, Retail = $85)
Mickey Luggage Tag 93601 BLK (Paid $30, Retail = $65)
Rip and Repair Tech Envelope 65037 BK SD (Paid $30, Retail = $125)
Bleecker USB Fob 67257 CAD (Paid $12, Retail = $98)
MFF Structured Orchid Flap Business Card Case 8890 (Paid $12)

So I paid a grand total of $110 for my new to me VB computer bag and pouch along with 5 Coach accessories. And I have moved some items out of my rehab piles! Yippee!

The VB tote is very nice, it has a good zip closure and an outside back pocket, 2 side pockets for umbrella and water bottle, an inside zipper pocket, and 3 inside slip pockets, and a clip for keys that I am using it for the USB fob. It also has wide, adjustable, straps.
