Has anyone ever forgotten about a Coach in the bath?
So, I scored a $3 skinny pouch that was listed as a change purse. I use a ton of skinny's and chunky's for various things so I scooped it up. They typically clean up very easily.
Anyway, last night I forgot it soaking in the sink and went to bed. This morning I pulled it out and gave it a rinse. I thought I'd let it rinse for just a bit in clean clear water with a splash of cleaning strength vinegar......
Yep, I went off to work and left it AGAIN in the sink. Here I am 12 hours later. It's drying now and can just barley see the Coach cartouche in the bottom corner. I guess time will tell how it turns out. I'll report back if anyone is interested.

Yes please do report back, as it's only a matter of time before I do this! Longest I've left one has been a couple of hrs, too.

Anyone had luck improving the 'waxed' leather of a new Willis?
I have my eye on one like this at a consignment store, but remember reading upstream that CPR/BR didn't improve this type of leather much. The one I saw is in pretty good shape but these colors can look....sad with wear. I don't want something I can't rejuvenate as needed.

I didn't know it was waxed! had a yellow one I tried to revive. I washed and dried and conditioned and it looked exactly the same as before. Worn and dirty looking. I did the normal routine but I'm wondering now if I could have used acetone to strip the wax layer off. But I've already sold it so I'll never know. Lol!

That's a shame! I always wanted this green. It looks so pretty but when I saw how sad they looked after they were used, I passed.

Weird! I just put Blackrocks on a navy colorblock city willis a few hours ago, and...was disappointed. Also found at a thrift store for super cheap. Maybe about the equivalent of 15.00 USD. So, I thought it was worth a go. Very clean inside with no marks on the white at all. The navy, however was completely scratched up and I was confident some conditioner would even everything out. Really the only effect it had was to slightly minimize the veining. And I do mean slightly.

So I am working on one of my latest purchases, Bleeker Basket tote. I am calling her squashed bag. This how she arrived.
View attachment 3777634And I mean not just a fold like I was expecting, really squashed. And dry. And she's photographing with a little more warmth than in real life. A dull, grayish hue to the neutral . Which I hope is I hope is just grime/dirt combined with dryness. Poor thing, I don't think she has ever seen a conditioner.
I did dunk her last night and as anticipated, her basket shape returned. There is a noticeable stain on the bottom of one side that didn't come out, but I am fine with that, knowing it will level out with conditioning. Still a pukey kinda taupe shade while it is drying. Eager to see what shade she will be. Maybe a dark camel? Stay tuned.
So this Blonde Bleeker did clean up decently, now back in signature shape, looking more like the camel/tannish hue I have seen in this generation of the Bleeker family. However this bag is dry! After multiple apps of Leather Therapy and even Leather CPR, as I just got my first bottle of it last night. So tomorrow afternoon it will get an app of Obenauf's Oil.

Also very proud of myself. Went into a local thrift shop that does carry some vintage Coach on occasion, even if overpriced. Thought maybe my Pony would be waiting for me lol. I walked away from a white Regina bag, clean, very good condition with strap but no hang tag priced $25. I just don't see me using it often. I had picked up a white Coach Camera bag ages ago at yard sale and ended up letting go of it in my last move, about 9 years ago because I just didn't use it. So even though she was a beauty, I just don't have the space to admire her. Also passed on a black Casino bag, $20 no strap no hangtag. Just couldn't. Thank God, this means I still have some impulse control.

Thank you all for rescuing me from a risky purchase! Scratching that one off my list...
The acetone idea is interesting but phew, that would be a lot of work. Someone else had called the leather waxed and it sure does look it, though I'm not 100% sure it is. I have a brown one and the leather is very different.

And thanks to @marleneryd , I just ordered Saphir's Juvacuir Recoloring Creme in Black and Medium Brown. Not cheap, but I like the idea it is premixed dye/conditioner. It is not the exact product she used but I settled on this product after reading about all of the products offered. Her black bags look great (she posted pics in Feb) and said this product line was recommended by her cobbler. I have several black bags with fading and one, while it's had lots of conditioning, has scrapes and fading, so it will make a great test bag. I hope to restore a black Plaza I bought with little to no signs of wear, but some fading. I also have a brown Ranch showing alot of wear on the edges. Can't wait to get it! So the money I saved by not buying the Regina and the Casino today paid for this!
But I have to say, the strap on the Regina is long enough for me to wear crossbody. Sigh. I do not think I will be immune to the next one that comes along in great condition in another color.

I saw one not too long ago in a consignment shop by me in black. It had a bit a wear. After handling it, to look inside, check out the hardware, etc, I was not overwhelmed by the overall feel or quality considering the wear. Could just be me.

I am in possession of the bag below. Can I use leather CPR on it. Also can I dunk it? It has a smell to it I would like to get rid of.

Thank you in advance.
Yes, you can dunk it and you can use CPR on it. I find that it helps to try to get rid of the smell before dunking. I usually air smelly bags outside for a few weeks.

The same treatment also erased ballpoint ink on two City bags, one bone, the other light brown (saddle?). After all that success I got brave and tried it on a red Sonoma: the ink is gone and the colour of the bag is unchanged.
I don't remember who first posted the acne gel suggestion but that TPFer has my eternal gratitude.
By the way, I was unable to find the 10% concentration of Benzoyl Peroxide in Canada, only 5% so I bought it at a CVS in the US.

I'm anxious to try this! Seems like a miracle cure that we could all use!
