Would leather conditioner help the scales go down? I have apple and blackrocks. And I found the post on the paint you mentioned. It's called vintaj patina. Thanks!

I recently worked on a snake embossed non-Coach and Leather CPR (more like Apple than BR) did help the scales sit a bit nicer. I think it helped soften them so they weren't as stiff and sticking straight out. Python scales are bigger so not sure if it would be as effective. My scales were also in pretty good shape to start.
Curious about other opinions - I love snake embossing but have avoided it thinking it was easily damaged and tough to repair.

My bid did not go through! I use bidnip to snipe and apparently eBay now sometimes puts in an extra authentication step before a bid can be placed. I wonder whether eBay is trying to discourage sniping.
In any event, I was not willing to set an alarm for the middle of the night (dh and I are on holidays in Spain which is 5 hours ahead of EDT) and will have to wait for another test bag. Thank you again for your advice.
That's a shame. Sometimes I'll bid at the last minute of an auction and ebay will pick that moment to make me log in again; by the time I log in, the auction is over. Enjoy your holiday! I'd rather be in Spain than rehabbing!

Good morning. Currently working on rehabbing a black city bag and so far I've washed it, conditioned it with Apple (that's all I had at the time after the wash), and conditioned again with Leather CPR and left that on only for a couple minutes before removing the excess. It still needs more conditioning and I was going to do another round of Leather CPR and leave it on longer. My question is how long should I leave it on between coats? Thank you!

I leave mine on at least overnight and don't think it's ever taken more than 24 hrs for it to fully absorb for me. Unless I forget to wipe off the excess BR, but that's another story...[emoji846]

Lots of folks more experienced than I am on here and here's a great summary of the entire process from one of them. Seems like everyone works out their own preferred approach/products over time.

Duffle 'mushrooms'!
Could anyone offer advice for stains with raised edges? They're only on the outside and the bottom panel feels stiff.
I've tried vinegar, saddle soap, dunking with vigorous scrubbing, and a little scrubbing with acetone (b/c I'm a scaredy cat). Nothing did much...TIA!

I used to leave CPR on until it absorbed completely but then sometimes the leather started looking chalky, so now I only leave it on for about an hour before I wipe and buff. Then I'll wait at least 24 hours before I apply another coat. It isn't unusual for me to do 3 coats or CPR and 2 of Blackrocks.

Usually the edges get worn more than they get stained. I bet they would look a lot better once you apply Blackrocks.

Here's a rehabbing challenge!

I have this bag and I believe the style is extremely rare. I think I've only seen 3. I think the piping is plastic. It is the only part that doesn't look worn. I think it is plastic on mine too.
Lol yikes! I have been watching people bidding but I really don't like the style. I see boobs.. Hahaha! A really old lady or an old man's chest. Don't ask.. I have a weird sense of perception. [emoji12]

Actually I think it is really cute IRL. The picture doesn't give you an idea of the size of the bag. I can see what you are talking about. It isn't as bad as the "vagina" bag - look at a Phoebe or Edie when it is open and tell me what you see.

That thing requires necromancy not rehabbing!
I'd be afraid that I'd open the shipping box and a big puff of brown dust would fly out of an otherwise empty box, like vintage confetti [emoji39]

Haha already thought something similar when I first met Phoebe. But my thought process somehow was a little more decent (shocker) and I thought it looks like a pair of shorts upside down. And the look with the zipper open.. yeah totally agree. And there's "Hoe" in the name "Phoebe" so it's perfectly named. [emoji23][emoji23]

I'm not sure I've seen yours in the vintage Coach thread. Maybe it looks much better when it's not in such bad condition and not empty. Do you have a pic to share?

Ohhh good photo request! I would love to see it in a presentable state, nicely rehabbed. I actually like the style a lot.
