Though I haven't tried Leather Honey (yet!) this is exactly the advice I would have given...thanks for saving my typing time, whateve!
Thanks, Joodlz! Trying to find some Leather Honey online now - this stuff is pricey!

Thanks. That's Henri. He's a red toy poodle. I have him clipped 'teddy bear' cos I don't really like the classic poodle cut. We discovered recently there's lots of dog lovers here.
I finished my Sheridan Savannah. I did dunk her and it cleaned up the lining and I think it helped with hydration and a couple of dark marks seem less noticeable now. I conditioned her with two coats of Leather Therapy and then I used red acrylic paint on the corners and rubbed areas. I just brushed it on and wiped it off immediately and then buffed her with a brush. It seemed to cover up the scuffs. I only used Black Rock on the smooth leather. The brass came up well with some polishing. It was much easier to clean the strap rings than on other bags because they can be completely removed. Here's an after shot. I'll put some before and after shots in drop box if anyone is interested.

Yeah, definitely keep the hardware! If you're energetic and crafty you can turn those dogleash clips into tassels...Here are some links: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-clubhouse/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-624452-493.html#post23541851

I also made a British Tan one from a Coach "Bean Bag" City Bag. The leather was too nice to throw away...not Coach, but still nice.
Here's my Watermelon satchel. It turned out quite nice. After a quick bath I gave it three coats of Lexol, and then finished it with Blackrock.
Thanks. I love the red too.Just lovely! She turned out great - the color is fantastic.
He is such a cutie pie!! I had a mini poodle growing up. We did the puppy cut too. The classic wasn't for us. Yes, there are many dog people on here. Maybe we need a coach dog collar thread.
Wow, great job!!
I think a bath would do wonders for this bag. You will be able to re-shape her with towels. I haven't to deal with a stiff turn lock but I'd probably use RP7 or WD40 spray lubricant, before bathing.I have been reading so many of these rehab posts many wonderful bags and ideas here!
I bought this bag on ebay and it was listed as a classic city bag. I figured out what it really is and now I've forgotten.
It does have some dark marks on the front flap which aren't really apparent in this photo. I rubbed one of them with a damp cloth and it just got bigger. I am going to try giving it a bath. Do you think the bath will help with the two rounded misshapen parts of the flap? I think the bag was stored flat for a long time and the large pocket underneath the flap has made the rounded parts.
Also, the turn lock is very stiff. Any tips on how to get it turning more easily?
Thanks.
Another question is about vintage red canteen bag. It's pretty clean, but has the smell that I couldn't quite figure out, at first I thought it was smoke, but the seller insisted she didn't smoke and that the bag was in storage for many years... maybe it's something else from storage... So I mostly got rid of the odor with airing it outside and air drying in the dryer with some febreze soaked paper towels, but I think I could completely got rid of if I washed it and then rinsed it with vinegar. But my major concern is the color, I'm really afraid to ruin this otherwise nice bag.
Thank you all in advance!
I think if the bag is a bit damp when you condition it soaks in a bit better. I'm sure there's a science to it. Similar to applying moisturizer to damp skin. I don't think it will be bad for the bag if you apply it when it's dry if you use a good conditioner. It may be that you may need an extra coat. I've only ever applied to damp bags but I'm sure there's others here who have waited until its dry.I just washed my red canteen bag, and while the water did turn a bit red it didn't seem to affect the color of the bag at all. I haven't conditioned it yet but I'm sure it will look even better after that. This was my first Coach bag, received (new) as a gift from my mom, so It holds a special place in my closet.
While I'm here, I have another question about conditioning. Do you experts think it makes that much difference to condition while the bag is still damp? I can't always get to the conditioning stage before the bags are dry. If I wait to long, is it bad for the bag?
Thanks!

Thanks Joodlz. You encouraged me to dunk her!Beautiful job...well done!

If it's really bad you might want to remove it first before bathing and really soak it with the spray or even replace it.
Good luck. Please post after pics!
