Looks pretty good, except For the gum inside on the lining....leathers a bit dry. Thinking of dunking but not 100% sure about it. Anyone out there have experience with this type of bag?
I had a similar one. The jacquard fabric can show wear pretty easily, but yours has held up well and isn't too dirty, so I would avoid the full dunk if possible to avoid "unforeseen events." If the strap were immersed, there might be some stiffener inside that would wrinkle, for example. The edge coating might start to peel off.

I would first try spot cleaning the stains in the lining and applying conditioner to the leather. Then decide if dunking will help, despite the uncertainty and potential complications. Have fun!

'Unforeseen events' made me lol! [emoji23] Funny b/c it's true!

Don't dunk, at least until you clean out that gum. Warm water will make it gooey and harder to get it out.

Thanks ladies! I had a productive day( house cleaning and rehabbing ( must drink wine tonight!). The ladies have been washed and the gum pretty successfully removed via ice and bath! Now two coats of leather CPR and drying. The casino bag had a gross stain on the bottom that was mostly removed, but after a bath another stain appeared on he front too! These are the " unforeseen events" lolIMG_2907.PNGIMG_2908.PNGIMG_2909.PNGIMG_2910.PNGIMG_2911.PNG

You ARE having fun! I like your coated-wire hangers and drying setup. Thx for the pics!

I just purchased this NYC-era duffle. It hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't had a chance to look it over in person, but from the pics it looks a little beat up. I know I want to try to revive it a little bit, but I read somewhere that NYC leather is prone to cracking. Can I throw this bag in a bath (of Dawn and warm water)? And what leather conditioner is best for leather this old? TIA for your help!

Welcome to the Purse Forum! This duffle looks to be in nice shape and it will look even better after a bath and conditioning. Leather CPR is my favorite conditioner, followed by Blackrock Leather n Rich.

Thanks so much! I'll look into Leather CPR. I'm really looking forward to trying my hand at this rehab, but am a little nervous! Maybe I should have started with something a little smaller, lol.

Yes, you can wash it. That will be the best treatment. Start conditioning when the bag is nearly dry. It could take a few days for it to dry. There have been a few times when bags have cracked in the bath, but those were in really bad condition. I've washed tons of bags, including this style, with no problem. It is a little more difficult to rehab a bag like this just because it is so big. Don't overstuff when it comes out of the bath. It is a little difficult to reshape it exactly.

I use the same conditioners as Catbird9.

Thank you so much for the tips!
