Yes, I believe they left Coach in '85. As far as I know, they are still making goat cheese. I do think Mr. Cahn may have passed on though.Didn't the Cahns retire to a goat farm to make cheese?

Yes. Here's an article about Mario Batali that mentions them, their farm, and their connection to Coach. In fact the farm is called Coach Farm. I don't know if they're still alive. The article is from 1998.

Aww, Coach Farm - that's lovely. Once you're into Coach you just can't let go. This is all very interesting. It could be a thread on it's own. 'Who knows who and what about corporate Coach'Yes. I know the girls have mixed acrylic paints with conditioner for great results, so why not dye???Has anyone ever mixed dye and conditioner? I'm working on a non-Coach briefcase. (Solo is the manufacturer.) The quality of the leather isn't nearly as good as Coach. The bag is only about 4 years old, but it was never conditioned or weather treated. The leather started as deep british tan, but faded to a light yellow. I bathed and have been reconditioning.
The top of the bag has two smaller strips of leather running the length of the bag between the zippers that have more significant color loss than anywhere else on the bag. I'm convinced it is weather-related as the area under the handles is darker. I've used three coats of Montana Oil, one coat of Leather Honey, and one coat of Skidmore's. The rest of the bag is fine and I think I'm ready to go to Black Rocks next. However, I'm not sure the color will correct on the yellowing on the top of the bag.
It is such a long strip of leather, and with it being on the top of the bag, I don't really want to use paint to fix it. I certainly don't want to dye the entire bag, and I'm not sure I want to deglaze just those strips of leather and dye them. I tested British Tan Fiebing's, and it seems to be a great match. I'm thinking of seeing if I can mix some it with Lexol and apply to these areas. Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts or ideas?
I think you should be able to. Or there might be something that Fiebing's makes that you can add to the dye to make it less opaque, like medium.Has anyone ever mixed dye and conditioner? I called jax for a replacement tag. I expected a leather one that would match the bag, but they sent a solid metal one. Not sure how I feel about that.
It looks wonderful. You did a great job. I believe Jax always sends a metal tag as a replacement. If you want a leather one, try going to your local store (either FP or outlet). I asked at my FP store recently, and they had a gigantic bag they let me look through and take whatever I needed.
It looks great! It looks like you got rid of the dents. I don't know how you did that. I know what you mean about the metal hangtag. At least they didn't send you a giant one - when I asked one for my geometric, the hangtag was way too big for the bag. They can't send you a leather one because they wouldn't be able to match the color.Hello everyone,

Oh so very hooked!! Lol!! I quit smoking a month ago and now I have a new addiction. My husband is being very patient and my coworkers think I've gone batty (true confession time...I'm not a purse person, but there's just something about coach)
