Oh so very hooked!! Lol!! I quit smoking a month ago and now I have a new addiction. My husband is being very patient and my coworkers think I've gone batty (true confession time...I'm not a purse person, but there's just something about coach)
Congratulations on quitting smoking. It's one of the best decisions you'll ever make. I stopped in 1986. Do absolutely anything else to stop yourself taking it up again. Rehabbing Coach bags is a far healthier alternative and you can always sell them if you don't want to keep them all. A much more profitable addiction than smoking! Can't wait to see your next finished project.

On the topic of replacement hangtags ... Last year I requested three and received two. Both were sent from the US even though I had emailed "Coach Global CS Australia'. Whateve suggested that Coach may only allow two tags per year, so being a new year I thought I'd ask for two more and I followed the same format providing details of the bags and serial numbers etc. However it seems they have changed their policy and I received this reply:

"Thank you for your e-mail.

Unfortunately, because we have a store in your Country, we are unable to ship products directly to you. We recommend speaking with a store directly for further assistance. Most stores carry tags for most bags."

There is no Coach store in my state and only a few in the country so I will have to call the largest one in Sydney. From what I've read on tPF, most stores do not carry tags for most bags. I'll let you know how I go.

Here's a bag I bought a few weeks ago for $8. The creed is very very faint, and I can't read the style number at all. But I believe it is a Hobo Shoulder bag #9058. It was in good condition except the pull tab on the zipper was missing. I have made my own pull tab using braided red suede lacing along with a brass clip. I don't think it's a bad solution.

In the early bags the tags were one sided. Later, they used two pieces of leather glued together. Many of those came apart, as yours did. The bag actually looks like it's in good shape, just a little dirty.

Thank you AggieK! It does have several ink marks on the inside and on the handle, but I am going to take it on and try to rehab.

The stores don't carry tags but hangtags fall off bags and, over time, they accumulate. When my outlet had only been open a few months, I went in asking for a hangtag and the SA brought out a box that had almost 100 hangtags in it. I asked her if Coach had given them a starter kit of hangtags and she told me no. Every day, when they swept the floor, they found hangtags. It was amazing how many hangtags they had collected in such a short time.

Hello Ladies..I have been rehabbing for quite some time and have found a lot of interesting 'pointers' here in this thread. So! I wanted to share a few things I've learned (trial & error) of my own. I'm sure you all probably know all this & it has been discussed in the past, so please ignore if so. :) Firstly, somebody inquired about mixing dye with conditioner. I often do this when I just want to 'perk up' a color without really changing it. I use plain, common KIWI(cheap) with what ever color medium I have that looks good..even the Leather Refinish which is quite heavy & opaque. Some conditioners will react & get 'gloppy' tho..so may need to adjust ratio. Second, white vinegar in the rinse will help cut the soap and helps dispel the 'old' odor on vintage. Also used repeatedly on mildew helps a lot. Now my fave thing to do..I hate the way straps curl up at the ends. Rather than washing & waiting to dry..I just heat up my trusty steam iron, use a thin press cloth & steam those suckers down! Works on any thing that tends to curl and make the bag look so much nicer. Hey! Didn't mean to ramble! Thanks for the thread..I luv it!

Nice pointers. Thanks! I'll be using vinegar in my next bath. I hate strap curl too. On bags that I've washed I usually place a stack of books on them while they are drying. But after use, they end up curling up again so I'll try ironing them next time.

Great ideas! When I want to undo the strap curl, after dunking, I curl the ends the other direction.

Love a red bag and what a great solution.
