Looks good! I'm also interested in how the top coat wears.
Very smart using the post its. Even painters tape can leave marks on leather - ask me how I know!
A long time ago, a rehabber on here who is no longer active used press 'n' seal plastic wrap. She cut a hole for the hardware and then pressed it on the leather to protect it while she shone the brass. It worked really well and didn't mark the leather.

I found this Coach Swinger at a thrift store for less than 9 bucks last week, left it behind, came back Monday and it was still there so I decided to buy it and fix her up. She's missing the hangtag but before, very pale, visible scratches and flat. Now post soap/water wash, a little saddle soap action and leather conditioner I used 3 times while the bag was stuffed, she looks so great!

I carried her today to run errands. The color is more visible in person than in photos. I also wish I had enough to buy the Hamptons Lunch tote, too.

Oh yes I've tried that and it works great! I was impressed by how well the plastic stayed in place despite all my steel wool scrubbing.
I used painters tape when I dyed the suede pocket tote. I started w/ press n seal but it didn't stick as well to suede or want to stay in place once the leather got wet :( Worked great on the handles though.

I thought of something today. You know how sometimes the strap ends curl up? Then we usually wash the strap and dry it under a pile of books to flatten it. After using it awhile, they start curling up again unless you are using the last hole. You can use rubber cement to stick the strap end to strap temporarily. You might have to clamp it for a minute or two for it to set, then it should hold for awhile. The rubber cement peels off without damaging the leather or leaving a mark when you no longer need it.

Hi everyone! I so wish that I had an extra hour (or 2!) every day to keep up with all my favorite forums but unfortunately I am only a sporadic visitor here. I am hoping for some advice in rehabbing this vintage 60's/70's Bonnie Cashin era Double Pocket Tote. i have had it set aside for a couple or years now and i really need to stop procrastinating!!! My main question is can I give it a bath? And if so, the striped fabric liner in the bottom is on a (I think) cardboard stiffener so should I remove it? I think it is held in by the prongs from the feet on the bottom so I think I might be able to pry them open and take them off and remove that bottom panel. Any one else rehab something like this and any suggestions?

OMG! I'm drooling! I wouldn't wash it. This bag is much too old and valuable for that. You could damage the fabric if you remove those prongs. I can't even find an edge to pry up on mine. Your bag looks like it is in pretty good condition, just needs a bit of reshaping.

Yes the reshaping issue is my main goal. How do I go about that other than by soaking and blocking to dry?

Stuff it how you want it to be, then apply heat or steam. Maybe hang it in a steamy bathroom while you take a shower, or use a hairdryer.

What a cute bag! Whateve's bathroom suggestion works well. i've had great luck reshaping bags I don't want to dunk by leaving them in the bathroom. The last one I needed to reshape and didn't want to dunk I stuffed and left hang on a doorknob to the linen closet that is in my bathroom for a few weeks. My bathroom is rather large and it doesn't get that steamy when I shower, but there was enough moisture in there that it worked to reshape the bag. It took some time, but it worked great.

Hello ladies, I am seeking your advice to possibly undone my rookie mistake.
I only wanted to improve the look of the corners on my Legacy, that have lost a bit of color due to wear, nothing mayor. After applying Leather CPR all over the bag and buffing, I used a bit of Leather Therapy on the corners only and now there is a "stain", a darker area that I can not buff away and it is really bothering me, IMO it looks worse now
Is there anything I can do to even the color again? TIA

I don't use Leather Therapy so I don't know if it stains. It is possible that if you wait awhile, it will soak in and you won't be able to see it. I would wait a week or two.
