There are instructions buried in this thread somewhere. What I do is fill the sink as if I'm getting ready to wash dishes. Warm water and dishwashing soap, then I add the bag. I don't squirt the detergent right on the bag, but I guess if you had a particularly dirty spot you could do that once it was wet. Gently scrub it if necessary. Using a soft toothbrush would be fine. Make sure you get into the corners and inside the pockets to get rid of any grime that might be hiding there. I usually leave it in the water 15 minutes to 30 minutes. You want to make sure the bag gets soaked completely. Then rinse thoroughly. You don't want any soap residue left as it will make the leather stiff. Pat dry and lay out on a towel, using extra towels to stuff where needed to make sure it dries in the right shape.Having difficulty posting a question or two. Just started buying some second hand coach bags and was wondering how you give the bag a bath with dawn? Is it OK to put the dawn right on the bag and use a soft toothbrush to work up a lather? How ling do i keep it in there how hot the water and so on. Ty in advance
Wood n Stuff carries Leather Refinisher that is supposed to be in Coach colors, but Coach has used so many variations on saddle over the years that you might not get an exact match. Also was wondering who carries the touch up leather dye tha5 matches coach colors the best I have a tattersall that may need saddle coach color? Any help really appreciated.
I have used zero odor but I can't remember if I sprayed it directly on the leather.Hello Everyone,
I just got a Kristin spectator baby sage from ebay at a good price yesterday.
It's in fairly good condition, except that it has a bit of a perfume smell. It does not reek but I can notice it.
I did a search back on some old posts and read that some used a product called "Odo Ban" spray. I have a similar product already at home called Zero Odor. I have used this product successfully for other odors, just not on handbags. The back of the Zero Odor states that it is ok to use on shoes, car interiors.
I was just wondering if anyone on this thread has tried Zero Odor with success on perfume smell on leather handbags? I just don't want to damage the leather on the Kristin. Thanks.
So I used Scotchgard to freshen up the striped silk lining on my whiskey anniversary bag. It did not remove any stains but it does seem cleaner.
Great idea!
Can't wait to see the Ergo flap!It was the idea of one of our compatriots on this thread, a very useful fount of information.
I am in the middle of rehabbing my 2 new thrifted purchases, a 1998 Willis and a 1997 Ergo Flap. Those girls are cleaning up nice. It is a joy to behold. I will post pics when done.
I don't remove the handle. I do remove the detachable strap and unbuckle it before I dunk it.Rehab experts:
When dunking a Willis or other style with a dowel, do you remove the shackles and strap, or just leave everything connected and dunk the whole bag at once?
The bag is very clean, but squashed flat from being stored, and really the only reason I'm considering the bath is to dry it back into the proper shape, and deep condition.
Advice appreciated! Thank you.
